  1. A copy from my post over on Chevytalk, though I'll omit the "what is an Intimidator SS" lesson since clearly y'all know what's up already. ;) I picked this one up with 80K miles on it from the salvage auction. Hit in the right rear and totalled out for it, it appeared to me that it was an otherwise solid truck so I took a gamble and bought it. Richard edit...wow...trying to post a few entries in a row in one thread, makes them all in one post? Guess I'll wait or something.
  2. If they were breaking into his house, I don't think I would have had any choice. But even in Texas, that's a risky legal scenario. Now, firing on some wheel thieves in the neighbor's driveway - while it would have been greatly satisfying to me...I'm pretty sure it would have landed me in more trouble than it's worth. Stealing MY stuff? You're gonna get lead. Richard
  3. They're flat out POS's around every corner, no lie. This is literally across the street from me (that's my previous white Magnum and white Chevy wrecker in the driveway), couple days before Christmas, broad daylight - I work nights and was just getting ready to go to bed, heard the neighbor's warning beeps on his new Corolla's alarm. Saw some dirtbags with a mini floor jack and I'm throwing shorts on and dialing the cops, going outside so I can get their license plate because I know they move fast. They took off when they saw me, only managed to throw one of the wheels into their truck, I ended up helping the neighbor get the other 3 back on the car and his spare, and back on the ground. He'd just bought it brand new. Stealing factory wheels off a damn Corolla. Richard
  4. Got the bumper in from GI.SS, thanks! Awesome packing job. It's pretty much as you described; it looks like I'll end up replacing the bumper face bar/rebar whatever it's called itself as it's a little bent, but since that's a generic GMT800 truck piece that's cake. The cover, step pads, bracing, etc. all the stuff I needed. I've actually already got it on the truck to help it be a little less embarrassing to park a wrecked truck in the driveway. ;) Richard
  5. Considering wheel thieves around Houston these days I'm through with spending that kind of $ on them. My 2 car garage only fits 1 car and my 300 lives in there. ;) I went ahead said F it, ordered the Ballers today in 22". Now I got some nice shiny black powdercoated transport 22's available.... Richard
  6. I've already got some bites and haven't even posted pics/prices yet over on GMT400.com but I've got a good used Belltech flip kit complete with shock extenders, and all 4 corners new-in-box Belltech shocks for a 4/6 drop. Also have some used Belltech 2" coils that have been slightly cut to give around 3" as well as some new-in-box 1" Belltech poly coil spring spacers. Had some DJM spindles but they left on another truck, so basically what I have is a full 4/6 kit minus spindles. I had meant to post all that stuff for sale recently but last Friday I got bad food poisoning and am barely coming back to life from it. Probably be Tuesday before I can get to it. So while a few people have asked, no deals have been made yet, so I'll post back with availability, pics, prices. Richard
  7. I don't like the factory wheels style at all; that's why I'm switching. Bumping up to 22 in the factory style doesn't appeal to me. I know some like 'em but just not for me. Thanks tho Richard
  8. Real clean, lots of pics, and a price that seems reasonable for an ISS with that mileage and condition so far. Get some pics of it on the lift, like you did that other one, should tell the whole story. Good luck Richard
  9. Just got a set of Toyo Proxes ST2's in 265/40/22 and a set of gloss black GM Transport 22 steelies. Man, I'm still debating the Dub Ballers though. I could pass the Transports along to my lil bro for his '67 project...decisions, decisions. I like the 265/40/22 as they're shorter than the factory tires but still have enough sidewall that I won't quickly destroy whatever wheels I pick, on these rotten Houston streets. Richard
  10. Got my Intimidator emblem for the tailgate in today. Correct part, a little more than an inch narrower than the door emblem. Cost a bundle, for an emblem, anyway. And the mailman folded it in half to put it in the box. Bent all to hell and a complete break between the "i" and "d" ... FML Richard

  12. Gotta get the drop right so you can run tires with equal sidewall height (or a tiny bit more in back, never less) and not have a rake either direction. The combo works well except in cases where someone runs a tire in back that has less sidewall; looks ridiculous. The example you posted looks pretty sharp! Richard
  13. Huh wut? Looks freakin' great! I like the new Silverado reps on it, too. I'm thinking 3/4 no matter what, if not lower. I really like low static drops but it seems to be a little more challenging on the GMT800 than a GMT400, and still end up with a good ride - or maybe I just haven't dug into the subject enough yet. Anyway, the 22x9~22x10 wheels with +30mm offset or so should be no issue; the bummer is the wheels I really want (Centerlines) are only +12 and that just seems risky, regardless of what they're trying to tell me - that's pretty much 3/4" difference. Richard
  14. Sweet! Yeah your buddy called me yesterday to let me know, that was cool of him. You got back quick! I'll give you a shout later today. Richard
  15. Thanks, the +30 offset is something I've been seeing a lot of on 22" wheels but in your case those are 22x10 vs. the 22x9 most others are. What kills me is I'm looking at some Centerlines that are 22x9 with only +12 offset and the tech guy at Centerline is swearing they will fit a dropped GMT800. I just don't believe it, not without running a super rubber band tire in the front. Richard
  16. Looks like I still need a rear bumper, getting that other one shipped seems to have fallen through. I could probably just get a junkyard regular truck bumper and brackets, make my somewhat-damaged top step pad work and just buy the main cover, my lower step pad is fine. But it sure would be nice to just get a complete bumper from someone who has parted out a truck or put on a roll pan. Anybody? Richard
  17. Hate to bug you again but you're not having any clearance issues with those wheels? I test-drove that SS on craigslist that has repro 22's and the guy was super worried about taking it very slow over bumps because his tires would hit the fenders. Pretty sure his tires were too big for the drop, though, but I do recall feeling like the edge of the wheel was too far out in relation to the front fender lip. Do you recall which brand they are (Factory Reproductions, OE Wheels, etc.?) and what the exact size & backspacing are? I'm trying to pick some wheels for mine and I'm new to figuring out what will fit on a dropped GMT800. Here's the pics from his ad, don't get me wrong I'm totally not trying to bag on this dude or his truck. He was cool enough to take the time to let me test drive it although I had other ones to look at and ended up buying a different truck. Richard
  18. This is on my 2006 so it's RWD, may be a different answer for the AWD guys but I'd like to hear back anyway, from anyone who knows - If you've been into your trans and pulled the 1-2 accumulator piston & spring, what color spring did you have in there? Reason I ask, I took mine to the transmission shop today due to an extremely severe 1-2 shift. No CEL so it's not the P1870 / boosted line pressure due to slip issue. Both I and my trans shop buddy expected to find a broken 1-2 accumulator spring. Got the spring out, it's good, it's smaller than the one he expected to find, and it's green. He replaced it with a heavier spring. He also pulled down the valve body and found one of the check balls had worn through the separator plate, so he replaced that as well. Kinda surprising at only 80K but whatever. Inside of the pan looked great. I'm still shifting nice and firm after his work, but thankfully no more "gonna break u-joints" on the 1-2 shift. Thanks, Richard
  19. Haw, howdy another new Houston Intimidator owner! I just got mine (salvage auction) a couple weeks ago. Depending on how yours was dropped, I may be interested in some of your drop parts as you remove them. The body side molding can be had on eBay fairly reasonable if that's what you're looking for. I scored the right rear bedside piece for $150, brand new OEM. There are also sometimes people in the classifieds here on the forum selling molding pieces. Richard
  20. Man, that's a toughie. Price is literally what one cost new. I'd be working extra hard to verify that super low mileage is accurate and there are no damage records on it. Why is the check engine light on? - EDIT - nevermind on the check engine light, you can tell from the tach being at zero the engine isn't running. No sunroof isn't that odd. My ISS doesn't have one either. You would think someone trying to get 40K for a truck would do a better job of posting an ad...with some quality pictures. Or, would sell it through some other means - a super low mile limited edition truck? You almost think it would go through a live auction instead. I guess the one big advantage you have here is that it's local enough for you to check it out in person and decide for yourself. Richard
  21. Now there's a man unafraid to speak the truth! Richard
  22. Turns out it's a good thing I missed the bid on the emblem; seller has it advertised as the wrong part #. I got him to measure it and the #88980875 currently listed on eBay is actually #88980874 which is the larger emblem for the doors (about 12+" wide.) Too bad because his start bid is about half what it costs from any dealer. If someone needs a door emblem, that's almost surely what he has, but do your own homework first so you know for sure. I did order the tailgate emblem today online and jeez it hurt to pull the trigger on $172 (shipped) for an emblem, but oh well! Richard
  23. I installed LED headlights on my 1994 C2500, 1997 Suburban, and 2006 Dodge Magnum. Both required some modification to fit; the truck took a lot more. Had to open up the existing hole in the core support and also the headlight bracket to make room for the heat sink on the LED. The Magnum just took a little bit of grinding on the core support. They're bright, claiming 2400 lumens, but they're not as bright as 35W HID's. Color is nice at around 6000K. Fence is about 200 feet away, housings could still use a little adjusting too. Wasn't the best place to try to get a good pic since all the other lights on, but you can see the white color of the LED's along the driveway and against the fence. Richard
  24. Truck looks sharp! How's the ride, and what did you do with the snubber bumpers or whatever they're called on this suspension setup? I know when people treat 'em like they're just a bump stop and not an active suspension component, go to cut them for clearance, the ride goes to hell. I'm a big fan of lowering but only in ways that doesn't screw up the ride. I'm new to the GMT800 platform so have a bit to learn. Here's my poor thing, taken from the side that doesn't show the whole passenger bedside is toast ;) (salvage auction purchase) My baby wants to drive it, real bad. I guess the Magnum SRT8 I got her just isn't the same as styling around town in a big black truck. She jumped in for a pic with it fresh off the wrecker, auction marks still all over the windshield. Richard
  25. I know these are really, really old posts. And most of y'all probably knew this by now. But the RWD model got the 9.5" 14 bolt semi-floating rear, instead of the 8.5" 10 bolt. I don't know if any 9.5" 14 bolt got discs. Guess GM realized the LQ9 would blow up the 10 bolt if it wasn't splitting the power up in AWD. And yeah, the truck looks great! Very clean and tasteful. Hope I can get mine looking anywhere near as sharp by the time it's all said and done. Go figure, two dudes named Richard in Houston with ISS's. Richard
