  1. Makes total sense to be the camber gauge. The truck hasn't been lowered to my knowledge, other than from standard 1500 height to SS height from factory.
  2. The weather has been finally good on a day off work since I bought this truck a few months back, so I was just out checking the whole thing over and discovered this. I have never seen anything like this before, but then I am more used to old muscle cars and not as much on today's technology lol. Looks like it's adjustable or something since there are marks on the metal part. Check out the pics, no doubt someone on this forum can help me out. It's on both sides in the front of the truck. Thanks.
  3. I know shocks don't, i forgot to mention front end level kit in my above post.
  4. Doesn't matter if it's stock z71 or not, but I figure it would be easier on the awd parts to go as little up as possible. So a standard 1500 height would be pretty much right. Thanks for the information, it definitely helps in making a decision on how to put this truck to standard 1500 height. What you are saying is to buy the blocks for the standard 1500 and then buy the 5100 or 5160 all the way around and this will put it right back to factory non-ss height?
  5. Right, it's not a true lift. Just want to put it at the same height as a standard Silverado 1500.
  6. I am not looking to do a true lift like a 6" suspension and all of that, I don't want this a mud truck. I would buy a pre-79 Chevy if I were to do that...which I would love to some time lol. So if I buy a leveling kit and the Bilstein 52's than it will sit like a standard Silverado, or real close to it? No one has yet to chime in on whether this will prematurely wear out some of the AWD parts or not. Anyone have any ideas on that?
  7. Thanks for the imput. I don't want to do a body lift, that gap between the bumper and body is killing me as is, couldn't imagine anything worse anywhere else. That bumper mod is in the works to fiz this. I want to go to stock Silverado height, not put a lift kit on the truck. I know this is probably blasphemous in the SS world lol, but I use the truck more as a truck than I do anything else...besides my daily driver, for now. I will look around and see if anyone has the original parts off a Silverado they took off to lower theirs, that's a good idea. I appreciate the feedback, feel free to add more. Anything would be appreciated.
  8. I love this bumper mod, I haven't had my truck but for maybe 2 months now and look at that gap everyday. I can't stand it, glad to see there is a pretty easy way to fill it. Definitely on my to do list!!
  9. Was looking around a bit and couldn't quite find the answers I was looking for on this. What are the negatives of taking my 03 SS and making it the factory hight of a normal non SS Silverado? Maybe it would hurt the AWD system, or too much of an angle on the hubs and axels? I love this SS and I know it's a sport truck, but I do lot of stuff offroad with the ATV's and such and would be nice to have that little extra ground clearance for when we have to tow offroad a little bit to get where we are going. Is this something that is easily accomplished or is there too much of a risk damaging the components of the AWD? Maybe someone makes a kit that changes the geometry to make it ok to lift it back up those 2"? Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! P.S.- Love thes forums, so informative and it's awesome that people actually answer your questions!
  10. It's been my experience when it comes to stuff like this, there is usually a big enough difference or the manufacturer wouldn't state those specific years. 2007 is the start of a new body style, from what I read it's taller and wider than the previous body.Overall body-to-wheel proportions have been improved as well; combined with the wider, lower stance. That alone means you can really run into fitment problems. Stick to what is specific to your year(s)
  11. I think I am just going to chalk it up to "one of those things". It's only done it 3 times, and hasn't for about a week. I do use 2 different key fobs. One stays in the truck and has just the key and fob, the other stays in my pocket and has house and work keys on it it ( I can't stand hearing the keys jingling and bouncing around hitting off stuff, so I use the one that stays in the truck to start it lol). Makes sense about the memory settings, so I played around with all 3 sets it have, didn't make a lick of difference which one I used, I could not replicate the issue. the seat hasn't moved position when the issue arose, but I did fail to mention the heat setting also changed during those times. Again, guess it's just one of those things, hopefully this is not my Christine....had an F-150 that sent me through hell....never again lol.
  12. A few times now since I have owned my 03 SS(about a month now),I turn the truck off, go into the store(for 2 minutes or so) and when I come back the truck is locked(I don't lock it if I am running in to get milk or a drink) and the radio settings have changed. For example: If there is a CD playing, when I come back out it's on a totally different track not even close to what was on when I got out. Sometimes i'll have the radio playing and when I start it back up the CD or cassette will be on...or vise versa. I never loose the presets on the FM or anything that would indicate a power lose. Just really weird the doors would lock themselves and the radio does it's own thing. I guess it possible to hit the lock button in my pocket, but usually just goes in the loose pocket of my hoodie if I'm just going in real quick. Any insight on this?
