  1. the ignition houseing is toast Gotta find a new column I dont think it matters but what is our interior color??
  2. any gm key in ign. hammer it in to brake the tumblers, a twist and it should have started. Lucky for me it did not. But now the locksmith is worried about the truck not shutting off?? when I turn the key to off. anyone have any repair details/tips for the column?? When the tow truck driver got there, the truck was stuck in park and I did not want to drag it on the flatbed, so he pounded out the rest of the cylinder going on day three w/o my SSS
  3. Hey all, wanted to give everyone in MI a heads up but most likely other parts of the country. My sss was almost stolen last night. My wife was out picking up a bday gift, so when she came out of the store so quick she scared them off...to the point where the truck smelled like fart b/c she scared the shit out of them! they left their tools...talk about lucky. Now I had it towed to the key shop, $125 towing looking at a few more $100's to get it all fixed. Police story: When she called 911, the officer she spoke with said it was the third SSS that night, in the same parking lot. The other two were not so lucky! He said it seemd like a new operation in the area that was targeting SS ( TBSS too) So I feel like the street value of our truck is peaking and everyone should be very aware of their patterns. If my wife would have been there for a normal shopping trip that usually lasts an hour, my truck would be gone for sure. I am not so much pissed but sad that I might need to sell the truck... First time in the trucks life it has not been in my driveway over night
  4. second turbo is too small for a 6.0L There are new oil-less turbos out now that might be the ticket, but they are expensive.
  5. the brake booster port on the rear of the intake? is the MAP sealed in there? Is the MAF still on? in the right direction? I know its not that easy, but the manifold is dry, you should be able to change it our without much hassle. Does it do it in Gear also? Might be not enought base air in the tune??

I have read that the rule of thumb to conver is double displacement...So for a 6.0L gas you would need a turbo from a 12L diesel With 'cheap' turbos floating around you can get better quality and size if you do some research on the basics....Bigger exhaust side, at least 70mm on the compressor side. BW S400's are floating around for $600 and under... keep looking
  8. I used the evap purge from my truck and some f/i hose. I think that its turned off in the PCM so it wont throw a code if its a bit leaky and b/c it was off the truck the elcetricaa connection is the same. I think the MAP went into a spot on the intake with the orange rubber bushing thing, no silicone. sorry I'm a bit foggy...my L92 setup has been on the road for like 2 years with out issue (well getting a tune that I am happy with has been a PITA) One thing I might investigate more when doing the swap is injector choice...like using 60's or ZR1 injectors rather than marine 42's...but that's just my OCD

  10. those injectors are too small...I wish we could get a modulated fuel pump to work like in the ZL1...I bet with a little basket modifications it would fit right in. I wouled try to contact Kurt Urban and ask him what you need to maintin your ride, his red truck had alot of good testing data fro mit and if I remember correctly it never broke.

  13. check criagslist alot of tuners/ricers have widebands and I picked up my innovative LM-1 for $100....
  14. IMO the difficult part will not be the hard part installation. I think you will run into issues with getting it tuned. Another issues is pure volume, the blower can only pass so much air, now imagine with a turbo you have double the air that you want to flow thru a blower that is already out of breath with a 6.0L...The radix is great, the TVS blowers are great...BUT when you start pushing stuff and trying to track down issues in a tune you dont want to have double the parts to troubleshoot. Now if you know your goals (HP, ET, how much you drive the truck) then you can plan it out and concentrate on meething those goals. Another out of the box idea would be dual 112's...but I understand the lure of turbocharging

    I hope your insurance has paid you. Good luck getting a new truck. SOmeone broke into my sss and I was SO lucky they did not drive off with it.
  16. the hotrod article is filled with dyno tricks...I believe the pulls started way up in the RPM's and when they tried to do a full pull it broke. Go for it. but be warned your radix is already small so as you make other parts of your dirvetrain better the bottle kneck is going to be the heat soak, cause by spinning it(blower) to get the air your motor needs.
  17. I could be wrong, but I think alot of the heat is pulled out by the volume of water not the flow or the exchanger. Once the water has absorbed as much heat as it can then the exchanger allows operation but more does pull more heat out of the blower/headunit. One mod guys did was to slow the pump down and it drew more heat into the water and let it cool in the exchanger more...Uncoupling the hed unit from the block IMO is a huge way to not soak everything in heat... another mod is to add voulme to the resivor, then you can Ice the water to get an increased temapture range

  19. I dont think thats gonna cut it on a SSS. You could try and flip it but its gonna be hard if you cant really vouch for its condition
  20. YOu have been around awhile, how many miles are on it?? boosted??? my point is IMO if you run 100K boosted, you have goten a great life out of it...and its worth building
