  1. Alright, getting on a rant here. Buckle up. I've used craftsman tools most of my life. They're solid, work for me, done what I need them to. The same is to be said about their toolboxes. I'm a nascar fan, more specifically, Jimmie Johnson. Lowe's happens to be Jimmie's sponsor. It's only proper that Lowe's is where I do most of my home improvement shopping. A few years back Lowe's started offering an over the top, stainless steel, gaudy toolbox that's bigger than most need but it catches your eye. Okay it got me. Enough to pull me away from my craftsman tools ways. Nobody needs a stereo in a toolbox but it sure does sound neat. At any rate, I got to the point where my tools needed to be a bit more organized than the few boxes I have going right now, so I started to seriously look at this toolbox. $1898. Not cheap, an investment, if you will. I saved and had some excess money so I started looking pretty seriously at them. NLR was the only one that had one in stock. I certainly wouldn't believe many stores would keep them on hand just due to the cost. I went in every day for the last week to contemplate the purchase before I made the decision to buy. Today I made that decision to buy. Nice, crisp $100 bills. I tell them I need that toolbox and to bring it around while my buddy brings the trailer around. I pay for it and only assume since it was brand new, that I had little to worry about damage to it. They forklift it on the trailer and I start to do a quick inspection and discover a bit of damage. Okay, cool. no biggie. Obviously a few things here and there aren't a big deal but a handle was peeled back, and a pretty significant dent on the body of the box. I asked to speak to a manager so try and remedy the situation and still salvage the sale. A customer service rep comes to the truck and sees the damage, asks if I want to return it. Well, I wasn't truly interested in returning it as I've saved for so long, but it certainly would put my mind at ease to get a little off of the box because of the damage. Since I am military and got a 10% discount they acted offended that I would suggest such a thing. An additional $50 off the box was offered which in my mind wasn't enough considering the damage. I opted to return the box and regroup. I was told that the box would have to be offloaded before the return could be processed. So I wait while the forklift loads 30 bags of quikrete into the bed of another customer before they offload the box. At this point I'm getting frustrated because I expected a brand new toolbox with no issues, and I'm waiting for a forklift to even get my money back. Not once did customer service offer to order a new box, have it delivered to my house, anything. I'm still very surprised that things went the way they did. My money doesn't come easy, and for such a large ticket item in my mind, I figured they would do more to save the sale. I've e-mailed their customer service corporate but I honestly don't expect to hear anything back. Guess I should have just stuck with Craftsman and not spent the extra money on such an extravagant box.
  2. Oh man awesome, what a comminity. I'm located in Little Rock, AR. I can send you money for shipping or I work for the airlines so I can even come pick it up.
  3. So I've been searching the forums the last few days and haven't found a ton of threads that say much of what I'm looking for. I picked up an 06 SS with 35K on it last week and will need to occasionally tow. I started looking for a part number and at a few dealerships to see if they had one in stock but most every parts dept at GM says it won't work with the SS. The truck vin notes that is originally had one. The previous owner I assume took it off before he got rid of it. It should be noted that the spare tire mount has been cut off of the truck. I'm looking for a hitch that isn't horribly noticeable...but after all, it is a truck. I expect to see a hitch on it. My truck is lowered, but coming from the TBSS family I don't know the exact drop on it. I'm still learning the truck. I do have a part number of 12498301 that a dealership said should fit it but couldn't say with a great deal of certainty, and also said they don't stock it anymore. So let's hear it. Hitch options.
  4. Yep. Picked it up. Drove it back from Heber Springs, AR yesterday. I absolutely love it. Drives like a brand new truck and turns just as many heads as my speedway white Z06 did. Now I get to start digging into what mods it actually has. Can't wait to get it on a dyno and tuned. I'll throw a few pictures up here in a bit.
  5. I'm a former Traiblazer SS owner, just about signed papers on a Silverado SS today but wanted to do a little research before. It's an 06 with 34K miles. Dealership is looking for $19,900 which seems about right. From what I can see looks like it's been lowered. All of the stock parts are under a bed cover. additional mods are an exhaust that's entirely too loud and a nasty little cam. Full headers as well. There's a diablo tuner in the glove box. Drove the truck today for about an hour and it's solid. Pulls strong. Here's my worry. Shift points seem entirely too high. Tach pegs on 6 under WOT and still seems a bit before shift. I don't know the previous owner but it makes me a little leary to pick up a truck that I don't know the nature of the mods or that tune. Here's a vid of it...let me know if I should be worried.
