  1. ISO SSS dealership poster. Framable quality. Let me know what y'all have. Thanks!
  2. Anyone have any ideas what may have gone in the transmission? Also, any reason why the truck is in limp mode but not throwing anything but an MAF code?
  3. I have no issues with the Allison in my worktruck... Anyway, I posted another thread about my tranny issues, and will suspect talking about swapping it until I have more info from the other thread: http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/topic/83156-tranny-issues-anyone-have-any-ideas/
  4. I posted up about swapping to a 6sp auto. It then dawned on me that it may not be the tranny itself that is the problem. So I decided to go a bit more into detail about my tranny issues and see if anyone has any ideas. 2003 Silverado SS. 6.0L, 4L65E. About 70xxxx miles. The transmission went out for the first time back in March. The truck was slipping all over the place, had lost gears (I forget which gears). Let it sit for about a month, and all of a sudden the trans came back and started acting pretty well normal, maybe a slight bit of slipping here and there. We took it on a 600-mile trip in May no problems. Drove it ever since, and it started getting very volatile, some day it would slip more than others, etc. Two weeks ago it completely blew up on me on the interstate, lost first and fourth (limp mode?) on the highway and I somehow got it home doing 30mph @ 3000rpms unless I forced it to upshift to third. It was almost as if it was limiting itself at a certain RPM, after that it felt like the tranny disengaged and the engine was just revving at 6000RPMs but no power went to the wheels. I tried driving it three days ago, couldn't get it out of the driveway. Reverse is still there but there is a delay before it goes into gear. Today I ran a computer scanner on it and all it threw was an MAF code. Does anyone have any clue what's going on with this truck??? I don't know where to start, I can't figure out why the trans came back and acted normal for a period of time when it was supposedly shot. Also possibly coincidentally, she had a trans oil leak around the time the transmission first went sour, and she was low, but I did not even have to put a quart in to get it back up on the dipstick. Thanks in advance for any replies!
  5. Got a 2003 Silverado SS (6.0L gas). The 4L65E in it is shot. So I figure this is a good opportunity to upgrade it to a 6-speed automatic. It's an AWD truck and I'd like to keep it that way. So what are the good 6sp auto trannies out there? Thanks!
  6. I think my tranny's shot but I'd like a third party opinion. I have a 2003 Silverado SS with the stock 4L65E. About 69k miles. A few weeks after driving it south (it got to sit and freeze in the Northeast for a few months), it started jumping from 1700RPMs to 2000 RPMs back to 1700, etc @ around 50mph. I blamed the computer since I'd been having issues with it and had it reset. Now it was jumping from 1800 to 2000 at 50mph, and started not shifting from 2nd to 3rd when floored. I went and had another reset, and this pretty much eliminated the hanky panky at 50mph but the tranny started not upshifting randomly. While rotating my tires, I noticed a leak, checked my fluids and lo and behold, tranny fluid is dry. I immediately filled it and the tranny blew up to the point where I wasn't even sure what speed I could get the truck up to anymore: in any gear if I let her hit 3000RPMs she'd shoot up to 6000RPMs without upshifting... got me in a real pickle once trying to pass someone! Reverse works fine. I suspect I may also have a sensor issue, but I think I creamed my tranny. Opinions?
