Battery

I'm trying help my brother out on this , but a few months ago he removed his factory radio and installed an after market CD player , wire hardness was also installed and all wires where connected correctly, only this $120 dollar pos (piece of shit) stays on while no key is in ignition. I have told him to install a power wire strait to the radio fuse under the hood, and still won't shut it off completely . Wires have been switched red and yellow , red with red, red w/red w/ yellow all that jazz,but still after all that, it either won't come on or you can power it off and turn it back on without the vehicle running or key in the ignition. Any ideas on how to fix this so his battery quits draining ? Also betters and alternator have been replaced and are brand new.
