  1. I called John at Advanced Powder Coating. He said to send em down and they'll get em in the shaker. Not sure if he pictured them to be crazy long big block headers or what when I was describing them. But if yours fit, mine shouldn't have any issues fitting either. Thanks Matt! I'll see if justin can help me get them to wasilla.
  2. Well, I called them and asked if they could coat my headers. They said their shaker wasn't big enough for long tubes. They can coat odds and ends, but long tubes are too big... That would have been nice if they could do them. The place that got shut down was in Fairbanks. He did shitty work anyway. Itll be $550 to ship them to seattle, have them coated with chromex, and shipped back....
  3. Well, the wire tuck is essentially done up front. The final product will look a lot like this. Everything is plugged in and wired up. I've yet to loom anything (still waiting on parts), and I have some more wiring to do behind the engine still. Once everything is soldered together underneath, I'll loom it and hang the harness under the truck to where you can't see it. Some pics... The Fuelab filters I ordered for mine and Justin's builds FINALLY shipped after over a month. They're scheduled to arrive on the 4th. Then I'll install it, hang my fuel lines, and slap the trans in. Here's the plan for the fuel lines. Hang them along the inside of the frame rail using the holes from the stock fuel lines... Kinda feel like I'm pissing up a rope hanging the lines on the rusty frame, but I didn't wanna paint it on the floor in my garage. So I'll end up doing it at the shop when it's on a lift. The fuel lines are easy enough to take back off later. I also decided to take the ugly ratted heat wrap off my American racing longtubes. I'm going to have them ceramic coated chrome. I think that'll look really nice under the hood. Only issue is, the only place in the entire state that could do it just got shut down because the owner got busted with drugs or somethin, so I'm SOL. The nearest place that can ceramic coat them is Seattle, so I called a few places and left messages. Hoping to hear back from them tomorrow. Shipping will suck, but it'll look really nice in the end. I'm not gonna stick them in my engine bay the way they look now. And a new set is like $1200, so I'm better off taking care of the set I have. Lastly, I got some -12 AN fittings to have welded to my Fluidyne cooler. Theyre sweeping 90*s with a 3/4" barb. I cut the fittings up and mocked them up to the cooler. I clocked them just right and clamped them down. A buddy is welding it up Saturday morning. That way it'll fit perfectly behind the grille. I'll have more pics this weekend.
  4. If you're willing to work with fiberglass yourself, your better off repairing the crack in the one thats on there, then sand and repaint. Getting a regular silverado pan would not work. You'd need to add so much material, and it would look terrible. Or throw a bumper on until you have the funds for another pan.
  5. http://www.performancetrucks.net/forums/gm-parts-classifieds-23/3-piece-engine-covers-536228/Here's the thread I saw. My bad
  6. Just grab a hammer, a saw, some pliers, maybe a torch, and sit down at the dinner table with the clusters and see what you can figure out. I'm sure with the needles off, and a few tabs, the white overlay will come off the old cluster. Then switcheroo with the other one? Start with the white faced one first since the cluster doesn't work anyway. What's the worst that can happen? Be careful and take your time.
  7. Just saw a set on Performancetrucks.net
  8. Looks amazing dude! Might just be the lowest AWD on the site?? I know the 3/4 is very popular. Don't see to many flip kits being done. Looks really good! Nice work!
  9. Contacted Jason at Gates Belts... Asked him what the start up fee would be to make a custom blue 8 rib racing belt. He said best he can do is black, and that they're phasing out their blue racing line of belts... Oh well. Green it is.
  10. Saweet. I'll have to get a set... Here's what I'm dealing with right now. I routed all the wires under the cab and got an idea of what wires I'll need to extend and which ones I will just need to re-route. Then I pulled the harness back forward, gutted all the factory tape/loom. Now I'm bundling groups of wires together that will be headed in the same direction under the hood and taping them together. Should be completely done in another day or two. Depending on when the loom I ordered shows up. Also found some touch up paint.. Really impressed with how well it matches! You'd have no clue there were ever scratches on the firewall unless you looked really closely... Before: After:
  11. Thanks Steve. Hey, how easy was your install on the Assassin bars? I'm thinking of throwing a set on when I do my coil over conversion. Did it interfere with you hangers/shackles out back?
  12. Thanks for the kind words man. Ive got quite a bit to do yet, but everything I touch, I try to make it look as clean as I can. I'll think about getting little coil covers and having them painted. I would be hesitant to paint the coils though. I have a feeling the paint will flake off, and nothing looks uglier than flaking spray paint. Lol. I painted my 112 when I had it, and it looked hideous after about a month. I'll try to get the wiring wrapped up by this weekend. I'll post more pics. Also got my 3bar MAP installed and borrowed a trans jack. So maybe I'll finally get around to putting the trans in. My girlfriend is leaving for Hawaii in a few weeks, so I'll have plenty of free time to go over everything with a fine tooth comb.
  13. WIDENING ALUMINUM RIMS Anybody had a set of rims widened? Was it expensive? Local or did you send them out? Ive got a set of 20x8.5s that id love to make a 20x10 for some nice wide tires. Depending on how much of a hassle it is, I may follow through with it or just run with what ive got. Was just kicking the idea around. Thanks. All comments appreciated.
  14. Nice! It's going to be a great summer. I can feel it
  15. Wow. So you spent all this money on an FLT to cannibalize it? Can't say I blame you. Crazy their turn around time is a month... Hope it all works out for you!
  16. I decided that getting it on the road asap wasn't a huge priority. I'd rather take my time and do it right. That way when I turn the key, it's done. I don't wanna slam it together, just to tear back into it later. There will be a few things I'll have to revisit later, like my exhaust cutouts, brakes, coil over kit, ect. But I've got time yet. The roads are still terrible. Even if I got it running, I wouldn't pull it out of the garage until late April. As long as its race ready by May 16th, I'll be happy. I'm not missing the Kool Cruise this year. What's the latest on your trans issue?
  17. Well, Justin was kind enough to provide me with a spare wiring harness for my "wire tuck". I've got about 8 hrs into it so far, and I am very impressed with how things are looking. When I am done, I want as few wires as possible to be visible. Just a quick teaser of the coils and injectors. The wires have been lengthened and tucked, but have not yet been loomed. Also, don't mind the other wires in the back that haven't been addressed yet. The coils and injectors are all plugged in and will be fully functional, yet at first glance, it doesn't look like there are even any wires going to them. More to do yet, but figured I'd share.
  18. Referenced this thread doing my 4L80 wiring this weekend. Figured it needed a bump. Thanks Shawn.
  19. Odd occurrence I'd say. Never heard of these transfer cases being anything but reliable.
  20. Did you smoke the T case? What component actually failed? Was it low on fluid? Had a leak or something you didn't know of and ran it low?
