  1. Yeah. Itd be nice to have the big "408" under the hood, and i know that if there was any time to do it, itd be now while it needs a motor anyway, im just not sure if my current drivetrain will handle 700hp, or what ill need to make it handle it. Plus, it's back to square 1 with the tuning. Haha. Ill keep zippy busy for awhile... Lots of thinking to do... Thanks for the replies and keep them coming. I need someone to persuade me into a motor choice.
  2. AH. Good thinking. I really enjoyed the power of a boosted 6.0L. Ill probably go with something like this. That way i have the same performance as before, with a more stout, and reliable block. But ill most likely order it as a long block with stock or mildly ported heads, then slap my old set up right on top. Any recommendations of anything else i should change or beef up during my rebuild? 370 Cubic Inch LQ9 Short Block (Boost) GM LQ9 Iron Block Diamond Pistons (-13.7cc) Diamond Plasma Moly Rings Eagle H Beam Rods Clevite Main / Rod Bearings Machined and Assembled $3,399 - no core charges! 3. My 2003 SSS threw a rod through the side of my block last night... It has a LQ9 6.0L HO with a GT2-3 comp cam, twin screw Magnacharger set up with a smaller pulley, 90mm J-Tube with 90mm C6 Corvette throttle body, Stainless steel Long Tube Headers, Corsa sport exhaust,Shift kit, 2800 stall converter, methanol injection, Zippy tune, and some other goodies, Running mid 12s 1/4 mi... It has 112,xxx miles on it, so i guess it was about at the end of its life. So my question is, NOW WHAT? Co-workers are saying put a 7.0L in it, but thats spendy and i already have all the bolt-ons for a LQ9 block, so i was thinking of finding a used block, having it bored out, and build a 408 stroker. Then i have the exhaust that bolts right up, the Supercharger, and everything that fits the block. But will the current transmission and differentials hold up to 700hp? Maybe i should just buy a long block and set it up the way i had it. The Remanufactured Long block is $4200 plus the gaskets, water pump, fluids.... Itd probably be cheaper to go with the 408, and maybe all ill need is a tune. Or am i going the wrong direction entirely? Just thought id get an idea of what the Forum has to say. Id just like to get it up and running ASAP and not spend over $5,000 doing it. Once i pull the motor, ill post pics of the exploded block, and post pics of the new build once I have an idea what direction to take. Thanks for all your help.
  4. Lots of smoke and oil... SSS needs a short block. $$$

  5. SPOTLESS! Wish mine wasnt a daily driver so i could keep it that clean and keep the miles off of it... Very nice truck.. Props.
  6. That Shelby at the end of the video looked like he wanted a shot at the title. Haha.
  7. Zippy is the man and wont stop helping you until you're happy. When you're happy, he's happy. He's done wonders with my truck and I know it wouldn't perform the way it does without him. Everytime I tweak something or if I feel something isnt quite right, I email him some logged data, he takes a look at the file, always knows exactly what numbers to change, sends the file back, into my truck it goes, and bingo... It runs like a champ. Like said above, he's something of a prodigy when it comes to GM tuning. He's a monster.
  8. Agree 100%. Im not really drooling over those pics. Rims? Lame. Single cab? Lame. Ride height and sportiness? Lame. Not too impressed. But its a concept still, so we'll just have to wait and see.
  9. Zippy Zippy Zippy! 'Nuff said...
  10. So whats the final word? Wait for an opportunity to swap out the entire exhaust with a touring kit?
  11. Just pulled the trigger on my Z06 brake system conversion. STOKED!

      I'd be stoked, too.

      That's gonna be sweet.

  12. Looks very nice and the blue LEDs really accent the truck. Haha you might have started a trend! but for now, i gotta focus on my Z06 brake conversion.
  13. But atleast its only at WOT!!!! My truck is cammed, and the start up is high RPM and lots of roar. Haha.
  14. Ah. okay. Because i too dont get any drone. The corsa is great for no drone. But yes, it is a bit loud. Ive had people ask me if its straight piped.
  15. I am somewhat experiencing the same problem. I love the sound of the exhaust (Corsa Sport), and not much drone, but it does seem really raspy, like it doesnt have enough back pressure? I have a Supercharged LQ9 with about 605hp. (Lots of mods to list) and i didnt have any Raspiness until i gutted the cats. Maybe High-Flow cats will fix your problem? As for me, it doesnt bother me enough to make a change.
  16. You're ear drums are going to LOVE you!!!
  17. I just bought my 2003 AWD SSS this summer from my buddy Tony. He was running a 12.38 1/4 mile with his current sent up. I havent been to the track myself, but i wanted to race it this summer and keep the legacy alive, sorta speak. From a dig, i roast all 4 tires... I would like a better launch and was just curious what everyone recommends or what is most commonly used. (Rim size, Tire size, etc) Thanks in advance for any advise you can spare.
  18. No, thank you. haha. good luck selling the Gms04.
  19. I'll buy the 2 gauge pillar pod. Got pics? You can send them to (907) 322-3650. The pillar gauges I have attach to my stock A pillar, and I'd like to replace the entire pillar with a single piece. This would look much cleaner.
  20. HAHAHA thats the kicker of being so creative. It starts a trend. You can be the original SS hipster. Keep the awesome ideas coming and we'll be there to take them. Haha jk.
  21. I have a feeling ill be subscribing soon to a "new build" forum by Millersss. Haha. Good luck to whatever you had in mind. And hope someone takes that truck off your hands.
  22. Hahaha best compliment ever! I love it.
