  1. Yes, if you go headers back you'll generally want to delete the cats or go hi-flow cats. Either way you're producing more air flow which will require a re-tune. Not to mention if you do the cat delete or the hi-flows you'll probably need to have the sensors tuned out anyway so you dont throw codes
  2. Well I guess that explains why you won't talk to me anymore! And I thought we had something special!
  3. Cash talks, it sucks for him but he has to understand that if he didn't have the funds and someone else did.... Such is life
  4. Nope, it was about 60-65º and in the shade!
  5. I'll have some cold beer waiting for you even if we don't have a "build party" we can still throw a few back That being said, it's looking like maybe the 2nd weekend of June now, "maybe" 7th-9th. Not 100% sure but I may have a bunch of family coming to stay on the 1st. It's still a ways out so I can't say for sure yet. That's the problem with these things, so hard to get a set time lol
  6. Many thanks to Jon for his set of OBX Longtube headers & cats! Shipping was very fast and they arrived in great condition, not sure if he scrubbed them down or not but it definitely looks like he did There'll be pics of them eventually in my build thread. Thanks a lot for the sale Jon, helped out immensely in reaching my build goals! Joe
  7. I'm starting to see a trend here! I had to send Steve @ GM Gauge Guys (Silverado777) my gauge cluster for a broken Speedometer. I was literally doing about 180mph just sitting still ;) While he had it I decided to go ahead and snazz it up a bit with blue LED's and white needles. I have to say it turned out amazing! Looks incredible and everyone I've shown is very jealous lol Here's a picture, it really doesn't do it justice, I guess my phone camera probably isn't a high enough quality to really capture the light properly. Many many thanks to the awesome work Steve, will definitely be sending more work your way if/when it's needed! Joe
  8. So, yesterday I decided to break out my new Adams washing kit. Got all set up and ready to go and when I started spraying the truck with water all the water started fizzing and foaming right away. You could literally hear it, it sounded kinda like a soda pop fizzzzzz. Hard to explain lol The water turned white and slightly foamy as well, here are some pics: Last time I washed the truck I did nothing different, full wash, rinse & dry. I recently drove it through a rain/heavy mist so maybe there were some chemicals in the air/water? Anyone else ever seen this?
  9. To be fair, not everyone can afford a real paint job. PlastiDip is simply an affordable substitute. Is the quality the same? Obviously not, no one is debating or denying that a good quality paint job will always look better and last longer than a PlastiDip job. However, the simple fact is, not many people can afford to spend several thousand (depending on the amount/colors of paint etc) on a real paint job when they can test out new colors frequently with PD for fractions of the cost. To me the greatest draw of PD is the ability to give something a decent coat to see how colors look and then peel it off and change the color at will. And it's relatively inexpensive. If you get your wheels powder coated for 450-500$ and you hate the color.... Well you're out of luck. It also makes a great protective coating for the winter if you live in shitty areas with salt covered roads 90% of the winter it will eat your wheels up fast I know first hand how that goes, and then you're stuck with either spending 2k on new wheels or getting them re-chromed/powder coated etc All in all, PlastiDip is a really cool product for WHAT IT IS. And what it is is an inexpensive but nifty product that lets you do a lot that "real" paint won't. Im sure most of us would never grab a can of spray paint and spray their emblems, wheels, ducts, crossbow, rifles, house windows, garage doors, you-name-it just to see how the color looks or to make random fun graffiti. PlastiDip lets you do that. If you like it, sure then you can get the real deal IF you can afford it. If not then you can make do until you can. And if you hate it? Peel that crap off Just my two cents.
  10. This is a scam, I've been seeing a lot of them pop up. I actually replied to a couple of them because I need a new work truck and I was like "holy shit, this truck is amazing for the price" Lol. Yep, too good to be true. When you e-mail them you get a fast reply saying "oh hey, im currently X/Y/Z (out of country) but the truck is in port storage X, you put money into insertbullshit'escrow'acct and then we ship the truck to you to look at it, if you dont like it you get all your money back." Suuuuuuuure. If you can't physically see the vehicle & owner with title in hand don't even bother.
  11. I'd be willing to bet the smarter states/counties will be buying the SS, even if only for highway patrol. Serves them right for buying a Ford, poor guy never had a chance! My bet would be he thought he could get away with having some fun in the new rig, turned out to be a bad night to goof around Sounds like he didn't get hurt other than a bruised ego/pride so at least there's that.
  12. Got my OBX Long tube headers in today! Many huge thanks to Jon aka idahoBLKss for the headers I'll get some pics up eventually but they're very clean!
  13. If you could afford it, you could pay her what you can now and then give her monthly payments. An extra 200-300$ a month goes a long way and in some cases is better than one lump sum. I'd hold onto that truck especially now with the sentimental value. I am terribly sorry to hear about your friend, it's awesome of you to step up and help his wife in her time of need. Good on you buddy, I wish you the best of luck in the future.
  14. Yes, very common, all 3 of my ext cab silverados have it =/ It gets worse the more pressure you have in cabin like AC/Heat turned on high etc. It basically sounds like your rear window is popped open just a tad. That's the only complaint I've ever had with the trucks! lol I've heard that saddle soap on the weather stripping helps but I've never tried. If these ebay things actually work let us know!
  15. Hey guys, In this thread I'll be posting pics & updates of my truck throughout the build process. Right now we are still in the preliminary stages and still deciding exactly what will go into the truck and ordering/collecting parts. For my ace-in-the-hole professional mechanic help I've enlisted the aid of John from Kelley Performance. He has been an amazing help and incredibly kind to spend the amount of time he has talking with me and helping me make a list of necessary parts down to the last bolt and washer. Without a doubt I'd still be spinning my wheels and very far from where I currently am in the build (even though it hasn't even begun! lol) without his help. So, first and foremost, a huge THANK YOU! To John I've decided that the majority of the build will most likely be done on June 1st and/or sooner depending on when everything arrives. Originally it didn't look like I'd have all the necessary parts until then, but I may end up with everything way before then, like, within a week or two! Which was unexpected but not a bad thing. Link to Build Party: http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/topic/81193-build-party-dover-de-area/ And now on to the build! So far, the entire build list is: Definites: Radix Mp112 Ls2 Silver Blade 90mm TB Custom Blower Cam OBX Longtube headers + ORY + Fake cats Corsa Sport Exhaust catback Shift Kit + Vette Servo AeroForce Scan Gauge(s) LED Swapped Gauge Cluster via GMGaugeGuys Krambo Tuned when it's all put together! Assorted/Misc Supporting Parts like Dr.X, Gaskes, Oils, etc. Possibilities/Future Additions: E-Fans Hood Wheels Nav Radio Full custom paint job Speedstur Tonneau For a little while I was debating on whether I'd want new ported/polished heads but I've decided against it. If I ever want anything like that maybe I'll just go snag a salvaged LS7 427 and go all out ;) Now for the fun part! First thing I've actually received so far was the TransGo HD2 Shift Kit & Vette Servo But, no proper build can start with a dirty truck, and today was the nicest day we've had so far this year. Hard to believe we just had roughly 6 inches of snow/rain fall just a few days ago. So I pulled my gauge-less truck out of the garage and proceeded to give it a much needed bath. And holy hell is it a battle. My water in my new house SUCKS, I have water spots so deep I'm pretty sure they'll eat through my engine block if I let it sit long enough. I've forgotten what it looks like to see out of a clean window, I don't think it's possible to get the spots off! I've tried everything but Adams products simply because I hate to order something before I've used up the old stuff. So, I'll suffer through the remainder of my Meguiars/ArmorAll and such and next time I'll try out a full set of Adams, that might make the difference. Pre-Wash: Don't tell Brian but I had a can of Plastidip laying around so I decided to dip my bowtie in true ricer fashion ;) Before: After: Not too bad i think Wiped down the engine bay as best as I could, nothing special And here's a pic of some of the crap I've been using to clean the truck And here she is all cleaned up and sparkly. Believe me, it looks much better in the pictures than it does in person. My wheels were already on the way downhill when I bought the truck but the last two winters of steady driving has definitely taken its toll. There's quite a bit of peeling and a lot of pitting. I'm really not sure what to do other than maybe dipping the wheels and using them as my winter beaters. I've been eyeballing some new wheels anyway. And my dog was fascinated with this salamander while I was workin' on the truck And she thought this baby water snake was her new seat, she just walked over and sat right on it. Surprised it didn't bite her ass!! Wasn't fast enough to get a pic of her sitting on it lol Well, that's all for now! I'll post more pics as I get parts and once the break-down begins.
  16. Try out: http://www.forwardair.com/ That or http://www.uship.com Other than that, google around: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=how+to+ship+a+hood
  17. I'd kill for a Speedstur, ever since I saw Kevin's when we did the tune I've been jealous lol It's definitely on the build list but not for a while unfortunately!
  18. I'd be willing to bet they have a lot of sites to monitor. I would guess they pick at random which site to check in on once every few weeks. It would be awesome to have a constant line to Chevy though
  19. http://www.goodsenseoil.com/G2457-GearOilWhitePaper.pdf Found this while I was doing some research. Keep in mind that AMSOIL made this test and as a result it is probably extremely biased (You'll note that the final test results have a freaking HUGE difference between each brand & amsoil, literally an impossibly large gap in my opinion.) Also it's from 2007 and I'm sure that all of these companies "tested" have developed or at least encompassed/adopted new technologies. I guess, basically, take it with a grain of salt, but it's an interesting read. I haven't been able to find a current test like the one I linked unfortunately. For me personally, I'll probably continue to use Royal Purple as I've never heard anything bad nor had a bad experience with it.
  20. You can get imgur app for Android, upload photos to Imgur then link them here using the IMG tags.
  21. Hey guys, I'm going to be adding some boost to the truck soon so I'll be in the market for gauge(s) and a pillar to mount everything in. I'm open to suggestions for both in case no one has any they're parting with. Thanks Joe
  22. How does this work? Since we have a tent do we all meet up and park our trucks around the tent for judging/show etc during the day or is there a parking lot and we walk to the tent? I'm going to plan around coming next year if I can. I have classes to teach that weekend so unfortunately I will most likely be unavailable =[ I might be able to pull off and come out on Sunday but Fri/Sat definitely not as of now.
  23. I'm interested in the e-fans, would it come with harness and/or fit in a 2004 SSS? Complete newb when it comes to what works with what :x
  24. Starting to look more and more like the first weekend of June might be a good time. I'd say tentatively, I'll plan for June 1st. That gives me two months to accumulate everything and still have money left over for hamburgers and beer ;-)
  25. It's ok, I'm the Joe that called you about getting my gauges fixed earlier today, you will have played a big part in getting it ready!
