  1. I need a set of rear bump stops that mount to the frame over the rear axle. I was towing a load that was more than i should have been (demo derby car, and a bed full of supplies) and it kept bouncing off of them and then eventually they broke off. I plan on purchasing an air bag kit for the rear that will probably take the place of these, but until i get that i am looking for a little cheap insurance. If anyone has any that they took off thier truck or have a truck they are parting out please let me know. Im not looking to spend a bunch on them and they cant find them in the computer at the parts store, so i am kinda SOL at this point. I appreciate any and all help. Thanks Tom
  2. Has anyone else put a Banks on their truck? Just curious about the drone, the Magnaflow i have on mine now is killing me with the drone. I need to change my exhaust, but want something that sounds as mean as the Magnaflow does, but dont have the money to drop on a Corsa just to reduce drone.
  3. Dualls, i will definately keep that in mind. I just have to justify to myself that spending over $300 for center caps is ok
  4. I am looking for a set of these center caps. I can find the wheels locally, they are just the stock 17 inch steelies. But the center caps have been a bitch to try and find. Anyone have any or know where i can find a set without paying the dealer price?
  5. Do you still have the grille? If so how much would shipping be to 21228? Thanks Tom
  6. Throwing this out there to see if anyone is interested. I am listing my 03 AWD SS for sale or trade. I figured i would list it completely stock before i start modifying it for towing. It is black with silver wheels. The truck has 74xxx on it. The truck is 100% stock and is in great condition. It has a spray in bedliner. The paint needs to be buffed to get the swirls out and it has a couple big scratches on the right rear bed side. The interior is clean and has no tears. The tires have less than 3k on them. I just bought the truck back in August and it just isnt working for what i need it to do like i thought it would. If i cant sell it i am going to put a set of regular 1500 springs under the rear, put a set of stock 16in steelies on it and then the truck will meet my needs. I really needed to buy a MAX but there werent any for sale when i was looking. I am really looking for a trade for either a VHO, MAX, or a 2500. The only two things that i need the truck to have is an extended cab and the 6.0. I need the 6.0 to pull my race car with and haul some stuff on occasion, i currently have to borrow my fathers old Ram in order to pull or haul anything and it is a real pain in the ace. I will upload pictures later, when i get them uploaded to my computer. I am in Catonsville, Maryland
  7. The SS being AWD and having the 6.0 is why i bought one to replace my old 250. It has the capability to get me out of the dirt if it rains while im at the track, and it can pull my car with ease with the power the 6.0 makes. I needed something that had more power, more space, and overall better quality then my old ford. And i highly doubt, after reading what everyone has said, that i will even attempt to try and swap the driveline orientation. It just seemed like a neat idea to me since you cant find a 4wd vehicle with an aggressive stance like the SS has. The other reason i had thought about trying to see if i could switch the awd on and off is because i cant ever leave anything i own alone. I always have to modify it to make it fit me.
  8. The burnouts are more for my own personal enjoyment, nothing to do with high school kids. It still puts a smile on my face, i guess its the redneck in me that wont let it go. And the gas mileage comment came about because i am getting about the same mileage as my old 01 F-250 which was a 4wd and weighed in at 6000+ lbs. I figured with the LS style motor being a more efficent and powerful motor that i would be getting at least a little bit better mileage. The mediocre mileage doesn't bother me as much as you guys are making it to be. Plus i think a couple of you misunderstood the reasoning for my original post. As i said originally it was just a thought, apparently most of you dont like the idea of being able to switch from AWD to 2wd.
  9. Thanks for the link Millersss. I like those stripes, but DGIEPSS has a stripe that goes all the way to the back of the truck and i like that better. I will have to pm him and see who he had do his stripes or stripe extension. But i will definately keep that place in mind.
  10. Hi, i am pretty new to the SSS group. I just recently bought my black 03 in July with 68xxx and currently has just a tick over 72k. I am planning on upgrading some stuff in the spring, or as soon as i can get some funds together. I plan on doing the simple bolt on mods, exhaust, cai, maybe a tune since i will be using it just to cruise around and pull my race car. I have a couple ideas for some exterior mods and wanted to get some ideas of what you all thought. For the bowtie i definately want a 454SS style bowtie. Black with the red/orange outline, but i cant find anyone that makes, or sells them to fit these year trucks. Anyone know? The grille i am not sure if i want to keep the stock grille and black it out like ThatTallCanadian did or to get an aluminum black one like 907BlownSS has. Or maybe color match it (silver) to the wheels and brake ducts? I also want to do the hockey stick stripes exactly like DGIEPSS but i cant find anyone that sells them. My other thought was to completely murder it out? I am almost positive i am going to eventually black out the stock wheels. So that would screw up my original color matching idea. I am kinda torn on what to do. If i go with the silver hockey stick stripes it would match the brake ducts and nothing else when i powdercoat the wheels; unless i paint the grille to match it. Or if i do decide to murder it should i maybe go with a flat black hockey stick so it looks almost ghost? Or should i go out and buy two more black trucks and do all three? lol Thanks Tom
  11. DGIEPSS who made the "Hockey Stick" stripes for you? Or is there someone who makes them? I always loved those stripes on the old 1st gen camaros and it looks sick on the SSS.
  12. Thanks Mr. 3/4 ton SS, that cleared it up for me A LOT. Like i said earlier AWD is a whole new animal to me. I know regular 4wd and i just figured the AWD system used a lot of the same parts, but it never even crossed my mind that the front diff would be specific to the AWD system. And i would NEVER think of pulling the axles or driveshaft, that is just asking for more problems. The only thing i would do that kind of stuff to was my old demo derby trucks when they wouldnt allow 4wd, but if the front shaft was out it was good.
  13. The main reason that i bought the truck was i needed a new truck to pull my race car with. I used to have an 01 F-250 but it was a dog and only a standard cab. When i decided to upgrade i looked at a lot of different options and the SS fit it best since i couldnt find a Max or VHO. It has the power to pull the car and awd to get me out of the pits if it gets muddy. I just dont like the full time AWD. I would love to trade and get a Max or VHO but they dont seem to exist in Maryland The only realalistic plans i have for the truck right now are exhaust and intake just to give it a few more ponies. Like i said i was just sitting here wondering if anyone had done it and if it was a relatively easy thing to do, but it seems like it is more of a pain than it is worth. But does anyone know why you cant make the transfer case on these trucks run idle like they do in the regular 4wd trucks? Is it not possible or is it a computer issue?
  14. My main thought with it, was to be able to keep the handling capabilities of the AWD but to be able to turn it off when doing normal around town daily driving to save a little on gas mileage............Also i miss being able to do burnouts It just seemed like a neat idea, but it looks like no one else does?
  15. I am new to the board here, i bought a black 03 SS a couple months ago it is bone stock right now with 72k on it. I have plans for exhaust, intake, tuner, etc..... but for right now money is tight and i am just tossing ideas around in my head, and this is my latest "plan" . Even though i love the way the AWD makes the truck handle, i miss the ability to light them up whenever i feel like it. This truck just grabs and goes. I know a lot about 2wd's and 4wd's, but AWD is a new animal to me. This could be a dumb question, but is there any way to adapt the transfer case in these trucks to work like a normal 4wd with the on/off capability? Or would it be easier to swap the front end over from a 2wd Silvy? Or should i just try to find someone that would trade my AWD for a 2wd? Thanks Tom
