  1. Hello, just wondered what results you got with the Volant CAI? Thanks for any feedback.

  2. Thanks! Those look like a good time and some sweet ride. Website is My link for anyone who wants to check it out.
  3. Is anyone aware of any events or gatherings in southern Indiana, Indianapolis, or western Kentucky? Heck, I'd even drive to Nashville, TN for one. It's only about 2 1/2 hours away from me here in far southern Indiana. Looks like lots of people are from the northeast but there's got to be some people from the midwest! I know it's boring around here but that just gives us more time to think about and modify our trucks!
  4. Welcome from the middle of cornfields in IN!!
  5. Welcome! There is lots of good info here, which makes you wanna do everything to your SSS.
  6. That's right, til death! Welcome to the forum!
  7. Welcome! My boss at the motorcycle shop I used to work at had a 00 or 01 Viper and an SRT-10 truck. They're pretty sweet rides. His was extremely modified though. Was pushing about 900 HP without NOS and about 1000 with NOS. That's what he told me anyhow. We had an in-ground dyno in the shop so I assume he was pretty close. He built parts for them as well too and sold them all over the place. I even shipped a lowering kit to Egypt one time. He made throttle bodies, lowering kits, valve covers, door sills, & a few other things. He rented out a local 1/8 mile drag strip in 2007 and invited tons of SRT-10 truck guys from all over to come. We had about a dozen trucks in our parking lot, and we ran a lot on the dyno that day. Had a pretty good time. Anyhow, welcome to the site. I'm not a Dodge guy, but we're all sport truck people!
  8. Thanks again for the welcomes from everyone! I've already put a Volant CAI and ram air scoop on! My next thoughts are to aid an electric fan, LT headers, and then a tune from either Black Bear or Wheatley. It's really hard to not modify your ride when you read all the great threads and see everyone's rides with all of your mods. I'll get some pics up here soon as well.
  9. I did read through it but it had been a few weeks ago and forgot you guys tested one separately. That's more info than I could give so no worries. Thanks
  10. Valid point. But a little feedback on something like increased MPG's never hurt anyone.
  11. That's some definite redneck engineering! We used to do that on dirt bikes back in the day! Mag light on the front fender. Worked great!
  12. Thanks everyone! And thanks for the tip @ Autoanything.com. I'll definitely check them out next time I order something.
  13. I just ordered a Volant CAI and ram air scoop for my SSS. I should be getting it next week. I'll give some feedback once I get it all put on and drive it for a while. Hopefully it will help others to be able to make an educated decision on CAI.
  14. Hey all! I've been on this site for a few weeks now but haven't posted anything yet. I just bought my Silverado SS in late February from a local dealer. I wasn't even planning on buying one, but I would keep my eye out from time to time and a dealer my family has been doing business with finally got one in. I persuaded my wife to let me take my 05 Envoy in to trade. She used to work at the dealership, so we met with a salesman she talked to you a lot. He gave me a good deal so before I knew it, I had myself an 03 black SS. First ever "sport" vehicle I've ever had. My SS has some scrapes and even a dent in the rear bumper but nothing a little paint on the front end and a new roll pan for the rear won't take care of. It also has dual exhaust (haven't crawled underneath to find out the type of muffler yet), dark tinted windows, and an Extang tilt bed cover on it. I just ordered a Volant CAI and ram air scoop just yesterday from New Level Motorsports (had best price, $20 instant savings, and free shipping). So far, I absolutely love the truck! It's a blast to drive! It's my daily driver though, so I have to be somewhat careful with it. One day I'll pay it off and buy another vehicle, so I can park it in the garage and get some real work done to it. Until then, I'll rely on bolt-ons that I can do on the weekends when I'm off work. I've got big plans for the truck, but they will be down the road when I can park it for longer periods of time to get the work done and have more money as I (hopefully) progress through my career to make more of the green. This is my first "sport" vehicle but I'm not a beginner when it comes to modifying things. I've ridden sport ATV's for over 10 years now and always had to do some modifying to them. I even worked at a motorcycles/ATV/UTV dealership for 4 years as a parts manager through college. I've also modified vehicles I've had as well. Just simple stuff though like air intakes and throttle body spacers. I always have to change things even just a bit to make them my own to try to separate myself. This is an awesome site by the way! The CAI shootout was a nice article. It made me re-think buying the Volant but I've read so many good things on it plus I think it's just cool that you can buy the ram air scoop to make one of them functional. I had an AEM intake on a ZR2 S-10 I had for a few years. I was not impressed by it, but I'm sure AEM did not want to dump tons of money in R&D into an S-10 intake when they had high performance vehicles like SS's and Corvette's to build one for. I look forward to chatting with everyone and learning a few things as I am not a master mechanic by any means! I'll get some pictures up as soon as it quits raining here in southern IN to get a good day to detail the SS.
