  1. Hi. Does anyone know if a box from a 2002 Silverado will fit a 2003 SS?What is a reasonable price for a rust free box in the right color? Thanks
  2. No mods other then a tune.I think it is throttle body related.I'm going to start with cleaning the TB and then check wiring. Thanks
  3. Great.Thanks.It happened again today.The code 1516.
  4. Thanks guys.I can't remeber the code but if it comes up again I will post it.
  5. Hi. My SS went into Reduced Engine Power mode the other day.I took it to a friend who did a diagnostic check. The trouble code was something to do with the throttle body and he cleared it.Sorry.I don't remember what the code was.The truck ran fine for a couple more days and it happened again today.I bought a cheap hand held code checker and again eraced the code.Does anyone know what is needed to stop this from happening again? Thanks
  6. A online suscription is about $10 for a year.Hard to say no even if you only look at the pics.;)
  7. A few months ago I noticed my mileage (MPG)was getting low.I drive the same route every week day and don't drive much during the weekend. My route is mostly country with 10% city.I was averaging 15 MPG.Not good.I topped up my tires to 30PSI.One was down to almost 20PSI.Bad.I know.I also changed the oil and checked my K&N stock style air filter.I had cleaned/oiled it about a year ago and it looked ok.I had some time so I thought I would clean it anyway. The problem with K&N filters is they are dark compared to the white stock filter which shows up dirt very easily.Usually the K&N will go light grey when the oil drys up telling you it's time to clean/oil.I sprayed the filter down, let it sit for a minute or two and then soaked it in a warm bucket of water. After about an hour I pulled the filter out of the bucket and the water was filthy.I was surprized.I rinced it out in a clean bucket of water, let dry and oiled it.My truck now averages 19MPG compared to 14-15 previous.I also tryed 87 octane compared to 91 over the next couple of weeks. Not a major difference,if any.My truck has 2 ECMs.One has a tune and the other is stock.Even the ECM with the tune ran about the same as the stock one and even under full throttle never pings. There may be a difference of .2-.3 MPG advantage to the stock tune.Hard to say but the info screen said the stock tune averaged that much better. My overall readings were done on how many miles I got out of a full tank using the low fuel light each time.I would average 380 miles per tank.I also tried increasing the tire pressure from 30 to 35 and didn't notice a measurable difference. Thanks.

    Stiff ride

I bought my stock 03 SS 1 1/2 years ago.It seemed to ride ok,even though it was stiffer then my 2WD Silverado. The SS has about 120K on it.Even though I have never owned a 4WD truck before the ride in my SS seems a little jittery in the back.Almost too stiff.I changed the rear shocks which were stock and they were not leaking.I just used a cheap NAPA replacement. There was no difference. When I was under the truck there was only a fingers width between the factory rubber stops and the frame.I still havn't done a test to see if the rubber stops are bottoming out when I'm in the truck. My truck drives tight and has not been used as a work truck.Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

  14. Yes sir.Are you Jake that had the T Type? Here is a link on those turbos. http://www.compturbo.com/spotlights/oil_less
  15. Good for you Jake..Nice setup.Stick with it and you will get it right. It's important to have people who have done it before to help you.I was lucky. My C5 didn't leak a drop from day one with twins on a LQ9.I know a bunch of guys running a similar setup and I belong to the corvetteforum.com.Those guys have done it all. Here is a link of me giving it to a BBC Camaro who had a DART block and heads. My inlet pipe had come off the pass earlier and they pulled me right off the return road to run this guy.I only made 4#s of boost and still gave it to him.
  16. Wow.I didn't know he was that old.Maybe I can still be a rock star.LOLDid you know the first album with Brian Johnson out sold all AC/DC albums combined before that.I did like Bon Scott though.I think he drank himself to death.
  17. The new oiless turbos really open things up.I'm going to try a blow through carb and meth on my BBC.No intercooler.
  18. Thanks guys. You had me going Marty.I have a 6 disc CD.Maybe the shuttle will be going in the MC.I have to put a decent stereo in it anyway. How much do guys think you should spend on a good deck and what names do you like?I'm 61 but I still like to crank up a little AC/DC now and again.;)
  19. Since my factory disc player has no input jacks,I can't hook up my I Pod Shuffle.I know I could update to a newer head, but I like the stock look and I would like to keep my steering wheel controls.Anyone have any ideas? Thanks
