I just started my truck tonight and I seem to get this random popping crunchy static sound. The truck can be on or off. And it doesn't matter if the radio is on fm. Am. Cd. If you click the volume to even the first level it'll sit there and make the sound. It won't make any sound if the radio is on but the volume is off. Think this is the same issue as the guys post a couple below this? Never heard a deck do this before.

Problem with chrome here in ontario is they wouldnt last 1 winter with all the salt I have to drive in. Does anyone know of a junk yard that has an SSS sitting in it? Maybe someone is parting one out or has a set kicking around. I dont care the color, my friend owns a body shop and I can have him paint them back to black.

See how they have no texture. All the ones at GM have texture. I even had then order in a red light. They offered blue and red. So I figured it would be smooth and I could just paint it. Fail. Looks like all they did is spray bomb the textured one.

Ok. I'll get a pic later today and see if we can figure this out.

Well I can get straight black. Plastic. But mine are currently painted to match the bumper. And seem smooth.

Hey everyone. Can someone confirm if the ss tail Lights are specific to the SS. Someone busted one of mine off and I can't find a replacement that looks the same. Maybe someone has a set to sell? Mine don't have that plastic nasty look. Their a flat surface.

OK so your talking about blowing out the line that goes to the intake? I thought you were talking about the filter that we relocate...

Sounds to me like you got some water up on the coils or something.

Well that's what I don't understand. I've replaced the whole unit twice. And done the relocation. I pulled the filter last time it came on and it's spotless. The hose is all new. No dirt anywhere. I don't even drive in nasty conditions. I'm thinking of getting the code shut off when I get my tune updated. I could throw money at this crap forever. Lol.

Well a gas cap IS a heck of a lot nicer job to do then dropping the tank for that stupid pressure sensor. Lol

Well. I think I can rule out the clogged filter idea. Cause the line is new. Filter new. And second purge solenoid. I took the filter apart. No dirt at all. It's stuck up around the rear of the transmission housing. So there's another thing on top of the fuel tank.? The pressure sensor? What's the odds it's the gas cap.... ? Not really looking forward to dropping a fuel tank. I could just drive an hour to see my tuner and have the code shut off. But normally I like my things to work properly.

So I had a code a few months ago.. I forget which one it was, P0466 or P0446. Whatever one it was pointed to be the purge solenoid. Did some reading and internet searching to see what everyone was doing.... And we replaced the solenoid and added the extra line to relocate the filter. Couple months go by and the engine light is back on.. So we get another part under warranty. Cleared the codes, checked the filter, all is well.. WELL now the light is back on AGAIN.. I am wondering what else needs to be checked next? I dont hear too often of fuel caps going bad. And they get tested every two years up here for emissions tests. Anyone have some ideas here? Im at a loss. 2003 SIlverado SS

So I could just get the switch, and a set of lights? All the wiring is there for these to work?

Is the wiring for an OEM switch stuck up in the dash where the switch would go? This sounds like something that I would be interested in doing as well. Edit... After looking aorund for half an hour, there isnt much info on this site about how its done using the stock parts. And I cant even get on GM parts direct website.. that sucks... Is there anywhere that sells both the lights and OEM switch? Ebay has so much aftermarket trash that its hard to find anything good anymore.

My mechanic friend and I were talking about this, and had wondered if there was a way to drill it somewhere and install a grease fitting..? I have to do this ANTI knock trick every oil change and if it was as simple as pumping a squeeze of grease into a fitting it would make life much easier.. Any thoughts?

Theres about 100K miles on mine. This AWD drivetrain does make some interesting sounds at times.. And the front diff wines but its not getting worse at a very fast rate.. if hardly at all. Ive done the front diff once when I bought it two years ago. Back has been done twice just because I ended up putting new backing plates on and did the seals while I was in there.
