    Well, good news today. Took my truck to the trans shop, slipping the whole way there. Fluid was really low. Had the tranny serviced (new fluid/filter). There were no metal shaving or anything bad in the pan, fluid was clean also. No idea where the fluid went. The underside of the truck is bone dry but as of right now, a new tranny is not needed :)

      Man; You've got a mystery on your hands. Are you sure that it was filled properly in the recent past? (Don't know if you just got the truck and hadn't filled it yourself).

      I bought the truck at 60k and the first thing I did was take it to dealer and had any/all fluids drained/flushed/refilled. That was 40k miles ago.

      You've got to trust sombody, right?

       

      Probably the most logical thing to do at this point is just drive it and keep an eye on the tranny level.
