located in Maine, no good shops up here otherwise i would just have my stock tranny turned into a 2wd and upgraded a bit cuz it runs mint right now.

Hey all, would like to know from your experience where the best and most economical places to get a transmission are.. i want to go with a really well built 4L65E 2wd just wondering where you guys have gotten some trannys and how satisfied you were with the companies. i want one with a good rep and great customer service that offers warranties. thanks!

For Sale: 4L65E Transmission with 149 Transfer case all in tact as a package. Could split it up if you want one or the other rather than the package but a package deal is cheaper. $1000 + shipping for package. Tranny has about 40k EASY highway miles, never raced or anything like that, never towed anything either .. its on a show truck for my business and i use the truck to travel. PM for more info

It would not be that hard to do any local shop could do what you dont know how because im literally unbolting the entire unit and i could send you my transmission along with the transcase and front drive shaft already still all together. All you would have to do is bolt this tranny up, attach your rear drive shaft, change your two front hubs and attach the cv shafts & differential. it would be a lot harder if i seperate the parts but i can unbolt it all together and leave almost everything in tact. ill give you a better package price on everything $1500 + shipping $1350 if you would send me your rear drive shaft if yours is RWD

what should i do with the rear end? that stuff isnt my specialty i do mostly exterior customizing and some interior along with audio system and few bolt on performance stuff not a big expert in the mechanics of the drivetrain. help me out.. thanks.

Hey guys, I am selling the following parts off my truck: DRIVER & PASSENGER FRONT AWD hubs ( left hand side is brand new just replaced a month and a half ago) GM factory one that was $300 something bucks not cheapo $180+ shipping All the cv shafts $150+ shipping Front drive shaft $150 + shipping Rear drive shaft $150 + shipping Front differential $300 + shipping NVG 149 Transfer Case $650 + shipping 4L65E Transmission for AWD $550 + shipping The transmission was rebuild about 40k ago when i purchased the truck it had been redone and ive put about 40k highway miles on it since then. The tranny shifts perfect and doesnt have any hesitation at all. if you have any doubt i could take a small video of a test run in the truck before i take it apart. I use the truck as a daily driver to travel to school so i dont beat on it or drag race it or anything like that. The truck is pretty much stock i only have exhaust and intake so as you know the tranny is not stressed with the truck pushing stock HP.. I do not have any good transmission shops up here in Northern Maine that are experienced enough (THAT I TRUST) to take mine apart and build it as a 2wd tranny so im just going to find a complete 2wd tranny so my mechanic just has to do a swap which will be easy enough otherwise i would keep mine because it runs mint If you have a RWD now maybe we can trade the rear drive shafts or whatever parts each other may need just shoot me a message. my tranny is tight and shifts good.. .problem is i am converting from awd to 2wd with my ss and rather than ripping my tranny apart (i live in northern maine and not single person up here is smart enough rebuild a tranny) so it will be cheaper for me to just purchase a 2wd tranny. so i need to know which is best with what i have now for hp and my future plans.

i have an 03 silverado ss.. it has around 360 horse right now im putting a 2wd tranny in my truck and i know there are different options. what should i choose and why. also keep in mind i would like to work on the motor and put some more horses under the hood eventually so i want it to handle power, i dont want it to shift like a 69 camero but i want it to be stiff and shift tight and handle the power without breaking. what do i get, why and what are the differences!?? thank you!

Hey man thanks for your reply there is a lot useful information that you mentioned that i was looking for. My local junk yard has a 2wd tranny which he said was a 4l65e but i have to make sure he didnt mix it up for a 4l60e. He said it only has 40k miles on it and i can grab that for $700 bucks. this would make the swap worth while. main reasons why i want to do the swap is one for fuel economy, 2 for less moving parts less things to break, 3 to avoid the labor ripping the transfer case apart along with the parts need to replace. Also right now i have 22" ss replica rims that are heavier than stock then i have huge 285/55/22 inch falken m+s tires so there is a lot of grip on the road and im thinking id have decent traction, i used to have an 03 5.3 silverado with around 300 horse 2wd and i was used to controling that truck even tho i could break it loose at 45 mph. would a driveshaft work for off any 2wd silverado extended cab same body style as the ss? thank you!

Thanks for the help man. If anyone knows where i can get those parts or links etc let me know. also any other opinions or other inputs would be great too just for comparison purposes and if anyone has a 2wd and looking to convert to AWD let me know maybe we can swap some parts save us both money!

Has anyone out there done the conversion from AWD to RWD? Also wondering if i will gain fuel mileage and maybe horsepower/speed? What EXACTLY do i need for parts and how do i do it if i want to do the conversion. Any other things i missed that you might want to point out you can respond too please. Thank you for your help!
