  1. On the E-brake adjust, Pull the disc / drum and adjust the shoes out till you can just manage to get the disc / drum back on over the shoes. Hope you don't need new shoes. I checked at NAPA and they wanted around $80.00 a side just for the shoes.
  2. Thanks for the heads up on the seller. Hope you have better luck with the next set.
  3. I really want GM to build this truck. I'd buy one even if I am too old to pay it off before I quit working. Here's a link in case anybody missed the memo. https://jalopnik.com/the-420-hp-chevrolet-silverado-cheyenne-is-the-v8-truck-1458097662
  4. Good to hear that you'r happy with the repairs John. I know that I would really miss the SS. I know that there are newer trucks with more stock HP and later and greater "bells and whistles" but the SSS has the character that comes with a limited production vehicle that they haven't tried to copy in a good number of years. If I had more years to work left in me I would buy a new truck but even then I would keep the SS until I was sure that I liked the new truck better.
  5. When I first saw that writing on the right edge of the tailgate I was wondering what kind of a model name is that? Just for grins I googled the VIN. 1500 Silverado LTZ 4DR 4X4 pickup 5.3 Gasoline V8. Looks like a tin job for the show. https://www.vincheckpro.com/free-vin-check/VIN-3GCUKSEC7HG256119 Got any bud's at a dealership John? There's gotta be away to look into it. Are you still happy with the rebuild of your truck, post accident? Take care Brother. Hope all is good with you.
  6. Call em up John. Maybe they'll do a trade.
  7. Uh oh. Hadn't heard that. Thanks for the heads up. Makes sense, I like their oil just fine. I have used Mobil 1 filters from time to time.
  8. That's not a bad looking truck. Front fascia definitely looks better than most recent trucks, (Of all makes). I'm not a fan of four door pickups. I know they make a lot of sense for families, but I grew up in a time when a truck had room for one seat and two doors, period, and I live alone. No fan of four door cars either, gimme a coup. I see their saving money on rubber. I'm no fan of that low a profile tire but I'm probably in the minority there two.
  9. :withstupid: (Both of those guys). Mobil 1 5-30 here to and AC Delco filter.
  10. Welcome to the site Marc. Congrats on finding your truck. Most guys say that a tune is the biggest bang for your buck. It would be a good idea to do a couple things prior to the tune, if you've got the bucks. 160* thermostat, cold air intake, shift kit. You'll get more of your moneys worth if you can do some of this before the tune. Tanny cooler isn't a bad idea either.
  11. Gotta agree about the fit / finish and looks. I got a good deal on the Volant, but wanted the GM.
  12. This is like a mystery novel. Best luck chasing it down Richard.
  13. I like the Volant just fine. No experience with a K&N on this truck. I wanted the added noise reduction of an enclosed filter and went with the dry version of the Volant.
  14. 225 views without a response. Times have changed. This is a nice unit at a good price. Almost wish I hadn't bought the Volant. Good luck with your sale One Bad. (Got any pictures?)
  15. Actually he should probably just buy a ford and put a bowtie on the grill. It sounds like that might make him happy.
  16. Well; Now we know what that guy wants GM to make, (for him anyway). Who knows, if he gets 10 or 15K more guy's to sign up, maybe they'll make some. It ain't no SSS
  17. Good to see your still around man. I feel for you racking up all those miles on the truck.
  18. Yup. I couldn't quite make it out but your right Muggs.
  19. It's a common problem that a mechanic never has time to work on his own stuff. Here's hoping Doughty can fix you up.
  20. If opening the door is making the motor engage, (Even just a click), the first thing I would suspect is a wiring problem in the wiring loom from the door to the cab. Do you get any noise at all when you mash the control button on the drivers door? (With the door closed and you in the seat) Opening the door causes those wires in that loom to flex and move potentially rubbing against each other, chafing, and causing improper current flow. If your sure that opening the door is energizing the motor, and your not experienced / comfortable with studying the wiring I would go with what Matt suggested and find a good experienced shop. Disconnect your battery before opening up the wiring loom to study the wires. Best luck and let us know what you find out.
  21. Decent price if they are OEM but, like Richard said, "The center cap doesn't look right". Looks like the wrong emblem in the center cap too me. Kinda hard to see in the pic.
  22. Imgur is working good for me too. Photobucket worked great for a lot of years but I guess you get what you pay for. Can't really blame them for going for the bucks, i guess, but they sure ruined a lot of good threads on discussion pages.
  23. ShawnSS wrote out a fantastic how to on the swap about 5 years ago. The pictures are missing thanks to photobucket holding them ransom, but there is a ton of good info here. http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/topic/78638-how-to-4l80e-swap-into-awd-silverado-ss/
  24. Cleaned up real nice. Those first two pics are a little scary. Looks like the squirrels have been living in there.
