  1. Maybe Matt can chime in. He's done lots of crazy LS swaps. I'm sure he's run into clearance issues a hundred times.

Lol. I hope it doesn't have to sit there too much longer. I think I should win an award for how long this has taken me.

    Missed your posts!

Yeah I've run into all kinds of LS swap fitment issues before and modding accessory drives. I had the same problem with the LS3 throttle body hitting into my alternator when flipped upside down on the SS with the jackshaft style magnacharger I have. I ended up just buying the 88mm or whatever it is truck style tb to gain clearance and make my setup work.

Looks like you've got a good idea going with the dirty dingo bracket and your old alternator and maybe clearanceing some stuff, thats like something I would end up doing! If it doesn't fit just mod it!

Worst case use the Holley relocate bracket, it will be a pain getting all the steering lines made up but from the looks of it that might be the ticket if you can't get the low mount working. Maybe buy the bracket from somewhere you can return it if it doesn't fit.

I'm really glad to see progress on your build and I'll keep checking back for updates!!

  2. Yeah. I got a nice mount from justin for my 40k. It was from a group buy years ago. It bolts to where the tow hooks would go and holds it right behind the bumper. I gotta mock it all up yet and see if it fits. Justin also had some 10" fans laying around I really wish would have worked, but they are a bit too tall for the fluidyne. Guess I could put them on the 40k, but would probably be overkill. Yeah randy. If you're concerned about the width of a bigger cooler, you could run a second one behind the bumper.. It works. Just gotta get creative with it. I can get better pics of my mounts when I take them off if you want. I'm giving them to Harley for his 112 set up. I have so much I could be doing right now. haha lots of new parts showed up this morning, but I'm being lazy. I'll be in the shop all day tomorrow though. I'll take some pics for my build thread. Haven't updated it in months. Thanks Eddie!

Sup Matt! Haven't heard from you in a bit! Can't wait to cruise this summer! Gonna try to make the Kool Cruise in may. Justin's truck should be done as well. And Harley's looks awesome. So jealous. Lol. All his fresh paint... Lucky

Hey Brandon, yeah it's been a while! That would be sweet to cruise this summer, don't drop the ball this year get that thing done! Can't wait to see both your trucks finished. I've been seeing his pics of it on instagram, looks sharp.

Yeah, I think it would be a lot less work to just keep everything where it is on mine and add another down below - I'll look into maybe a 6 or 8" high smaller Fluidyne...gotta get it up in the air to see what'll fit

Somehow I remember you saying you were going to try and be ready for the Kool Cruise LAST YEAR, lol, It's time to crack the whip on your ass so you'll get that baby done smile.png I know there are a bunch of people who can't wait to see what she'll do, myself included!

    X2

  3. My best guess would be the fuel pump if it was running fine and then suddenly died out. Listen carefully to hear if the pump is running for a couple seconds on key on. If it's not sometimes you can whack on the bottom of the gas tank with a piece of wood to temporarily revive it. I got that to work on my old 2000 years ago.

  4. What the hell.... Look how prestine it looks in the pics. No way that's the same truck...

Nah those are just stock pictures from GM in 2003. In the link there's an actual pic of the odometer. Can't see the real truck but it would be interesting for sure.

  5. I would be pissed to charge it and run 14s

Exactly I've been driving it for months now no codes but I've known something was not quite right. Finally today it came up with bank 1 and 2 lean... So it sounds like I must have a pretty big vacuum leak or a hose cracked. I'm assuming this is why it ran so slow. I've been so busy I never had a chance to dig into it after that run. Now that I have codes, I am going to pull it into the garage and take a look at all my hoses, intake tube adjustment, take off the TB and check the gasket and try to find out what the problem is.

  6. Wow no offense but something is not right if you are only running a 14.68@91. I ran a 14.86 @91 in my SS with a 135k on the clock. Mine only has a k&n drop in and a muffler....

No offense taken, it was really slow!! I would imagine it should run roughly in the 13's

  7. My truck ran really slow (14.68 @ 91 mph), but is mostly stock including the entire exhaust and the engine has 175k. IAT's were in the 145 degree range from being parked in the pits and heatsoaking, also running a 3.2" pulley with underdriven rear pulleys so the boost is low and afr was rich (10.8) under WOT for this run. This winter I dialed it in some more or so it seems and it feels faster now AFR's are around 11.2-11.6 under WOT.

    Here's the slow video run:

  8. I'll probably cut the cats off and gut them and change the plugs and wires because the previous owner did a piss poor job of taking care of the truck they probably weren't changed in a long time then see if that does the trick

I would check your codes before doing work on your truck, but like others have said definitely sounds like clogged cats. Just swing by O'reillys or Autozone and borrow a scanner. I saw your truck driving through the Carrs parking lot a couple days ago and the exhaust sounded really leaky so that might be something to check out. (At least I think it was yours)

  9. Quit procrastinating!! Lol. Just cuz it's winter doesn't mean the roads are covered in snow the entire season. There are times when the roads are clean and clear. That way you can take it out on its "road trials" and get all the bugs worked out, so that come spring time, you can enjoy it without worry or more downtime.

I agree its an AWD truck after all! LOL just kidding, I'm sure you will get it done with some time.

  10. I say keep them both since they both mean a lot to you! That would be what I would do at least, the Chevelle will be a much more complicated rebuild in comparison to replacing a bed side, fender and painting the SS at least from my experience restoring cars and fixing trucks. For fixing your truck I would just get the parts at the dealer I don't think they are to expensive.
