Mad props look forward to more
  2. I didn't think it have anything saved since the battery had been disconnected for about 2 months before it went in. It's been sitting a while with the trans out again. I'll have to try it next time it's back in
  3. I've pulled the trans back out just in case already. I pulled the valve body completely apart and double checked all the bores also. the only thing I can think of is it may have a crack in the input drum even though it air checks fine. I did put a different pump in it the last time along with boost valve and found nothing in the valve body. I'm not sure what else could be causing it.
  4. Well the trans started acting up again. Checked line pressure and it just won't come above 90 psi in any gear. Any recommendations to look at? New boost valve was installed. All seals were changed. Every gear works. Has a stutter in between 1-2 trying to grab 2nd gear, but every other one works. Won't hold the gear past 4 rpm though. Tried uploading a video to photobucket, but it's not showing on upload yet.
  5. I was informed today that I could take the wave plate out of the forward clutch pack and replace that with another steel and friction. Anybody tried this or heard of it?
  6. Thanks zippy. I understand what you mean. I see that working here at the airport also. We found the pump was missing the spring on the little guide and the little rubber that goes between the pump and slide. We checked the force motor and it wasn't consistent in ohms. Along with the input drum was missing the green oring. Lots of questions lots of explanations lots of reasoning later. We're half way back together. We ran into the concern of the lip seals were not sealing very good in the forward and over run piston and having a few other builders look (successful stock rebuilders) we all agreed that I needed to try another set of seals. We received them today and air checkin the drum we have a much better seal. I'm being very cautious as I would like the trans to stay together long enough for me to enjoy my truck and gather other go fast goodies.
  7. The last builder was set on using the zpack. He claimed he had quite a few holding at high horsepower ratings but he didnt like when i told him not to order a torque converter id be bringing one once it arrived. Thats my fault for not looking into it more and believing a so called experienced tranny builder.
  8. i talked with patc about a few things here earlier (guy seemed like i was just wasting his time) but i did order just a basic pump kit 13 vane, a new force motor, 4L60E Release Spring Kit, 4L60E High Output Pump Slide Spring, 4L60E, Overhaul Kit 2004 UP,4L60E Heavy Duty 2-3 Shift Valve, 700R4 / 4L60E / 4L65E Billet Forward Piston. I assume the last few builders have done exactly that zippy just because it seems like they just threw stuff in it without any thought or research. I live in the middle of no where so its definitely one of those things that most rebuilders just do stock, th350,th400, and powerglides for dirt track. After reading on numerous tranny builds and calling probuilt, patc, and rpm, Dana at probuilt seemed the most help. We also got what i should be doing figured out with my 3-4 clutch pack clearances, stack up etc..THe new sonnex input drum seems out of my price budget right now. I probably will be getting a hold of you once i buy hptuners so i can send you some logs and get the tune freshened up.
  9. Anybody tried what he mentions in the seperate plate or know what it might affect
  10. A few of that stuff Ive already done except the shafts didn't see the need with my power goals and driving habit. I was looking on ls1tech and he talks about drilling the seperate plate. I'll post a screen shot of it later
  11. This will be my first tranny build by myself. I've watched the last 2 rebuilds because I wanted to know what the guy before messed up. The last guy who did it for 20 years and a few local drag guys said he built theirs said he could do it his done quite a few of them. I honestly think my opinion it was a lot of shift pressure and a couple defective parts.
  12. We changed the guts in the pump every rebuild. The piston was changed last rebuild also. I'd like to try this one more time if it doesn't hold I'll give either flt or jakes performance a call for a 80 and start a turbo build.
  13. Exactly theirs plenty of trucks running the 4l60 in these things with higher power and more abuse than I do. It should hold together I just haven't found a reliable trans builder locally.
  14. Zippy did the tune on it a few years ago. Haven't had any troubles with it.
