Yesterday I took my truck to get tuned. It is completely stock and it laid down 272rwhp. After getting it tuned, the truck responds like it should have from the factory; instantaneous throttle response and a bit more power. I also had the shift points raised from 5500rpm to 6k (the rev limiter was 6100rpm from the factory, so that got bumped a few hundred rpm higher also.) The transmission torque management was not touched. When I saw the first graph, I was very happy with the results, especially the torque curve. Then the tuner dumped a little more fuel at peak torque, and the second graph is what we ended with. The truck feels much better and I love the VVT, makes for an awesome power curve!

It's got disc brakes in the rear. I'm gonna take the badges off this weekend. I work for an autobody and have done my past cars, just figured the bowtie would have alignment pins. Sweet! I think I'm gonna bring it in to Justin @ Modern Muscle for a tune. I already have a fairly loud car and I'm gonna be using the truck for hauling the fourwheeler around the country (long trips) so I want to keep it fairly quiet. I'd love to put a set of stepped longtubes on it and leave the factory catback. I'll let you know what I find. Thanks for the info!

Huh. The factory exhaust tip looks so cheap compared to the rest of the truck. My boss has an SSS (just figured out what that meant) and it's got a nice looking side exit. I thought maybe the truck I'd bought had the exhaust replaced with some cheapo job. Good to know it's factory, I guess. It doesn't sound horrible, just looks cheap. Guess I'll have to replace the exhaust and get a tune. Seems like you have to get on the truck really early for it to make any power before shifting. Thank you for the info. Why is it so hard to find any concrete info on this truck? Who makes Long tubes for the '07 V-max? Will a pair from a G8 work? I've also been wanting to rip the badges off this thing, especially the big gaudy bowtie on the tailgate. I'm hoping there aren't any locating pins/you didn't have to do any bondo or paintwork to yours? Looks great, btw! Two more questions while I've got your attention... I want to put Hid's in this thing but I don't want a lot of glare. Will the Escalade headlights fit this truck or is there a quality set of projector headlights that will work (like the older Denali's had)?

Hello, I'm new here. Just picked up an '07 Vortec Max on Saturday. Loving the truck so far. It has 47k on it, but from what I can tell it drives like new. I've been reading a lot here, seems like each one was configured differently. This one is dark blue, has 6.0, 20's, LTZ with sunroof, 3.73's, trailer package, 4wd and navigation. Is that what the factory tailpipe looks like?
