  1. I remember feeling the same way. Only now it's that time to get out on your own and support yourself. We're never really free, just a different kind of hell. Sorry...not trying to bring you down. Sounds like it will be a fun day! Enjoy it and congrats!
  2. Old....? Weren't you the one that used to be called Dad on here for a while? Good to see you still come on here Vince. Chase, Cody, MrP, detjoe - hope things have been good for you guys - all the rest too. Cody - it's just not the same when I travel to San Diego. No more bud to hang out with. Tell Andrea I said, hi.
  3. I'm still around. I just haven't been on here very much lately - over the past 8 months or so. It wasn't intentional, but sort of got out the habit when I moved my spouse up here with me. Then most of my time was spent unpacking and just trying to get organized enough to function day-to-day. I still have my truck and it has been running fine. I mostly use it for towing my boat on weekends. I have a beater that I use everyday that gets around 28 mpg. So it is hard to not use it and it keeps the miles down on the truck. I have 28k miles on it now.
  4. I got this in an email a couple of weeks back and meant to post then - anyhow.... I did not check it's authenticity, as I am sure there are a few of you that will do that for me. Love the letter, nontheless. Subject: A MARINE MOTHER'S RESPONSE TO KERRY > > Letter from Mother of Cpl. Cory Palmer to John Kerry > > November 1, 2006 > > Senator Kerry, > > Damn you. You are a bumbling idiot. 5. Try going to the track times to see what you could run.
  6. Still sounds like a wiring and/or fuse problem. Did you check both fuse centers, including all of the box-like fuses under the hood? I would pull out my manual that shows all of the fuses and what they do and pull and check every one of them that even remotely deal with anything interior. If that didn't show anything, I'd pull every single one of them and check them. A scanner tool with advanced scanning ability would possibly show the problem.
  7. I used to use mine, but figured I was not mobility limited yet and could do without. I figured over time the motors would degrade to the point where even simple seat adjustment would be difficult. I plan to keep the truck for another 5-6 years at least and want to keep everything functional.
  8. I would stick to the lesser aggressive cams and go with a Comp cam 212/218 high-lift version. If you have your own tuning ability then maybe a little more aggressive. I also wouldn't go above 2600-2800 stall. If you really are rolling on 24's, you'll want to keep the low end as much as possible and a tighter stall will help. You could go to Futral Motorsports website and ask Allan Futral for a recommendation. He is one of the leading motorheads in the LSx world and his reputation speaks volumes on LS1 tech. What type of headers do you have?
  9. What do you mean "as good as" speed density?
  10. Coming from a guy who has pulled this motor 3 times, it certainly isn't hard. Overall it may take less time to pull to the other work, but I think that comes to your experience level at any of it. I personally would not pull the motor to do all of this work. I have done everything you've mentioned with the motor in. It does not require motor mounts to come out in the any of the readily available headers out there. The cam, oil pump, and chain can obviously be done all at once. A TC change can be done in about 4hrs if you have access to a lift. A cherry picker can usually be had for less than $150 at Pep Boys, although you may have to catch it on sale. Either way - good luck. All important thing to remember if you pull it - mark all of your grounds and injector harness wires. Everything else you can't mess up and they will only go one way. Grounds have kicked numerous people's butts - me once - when it comes to starting back up. Mess them up and it doesn't happen.
  11. Only difference is I have BTE Super Racing in my tranny. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Any performance/longevity reason you chose that over the Amsoil? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> None really...other than most hi-perf builders will tell you not to use synthetic. Syn does cause more slip, the extra heat it creates is negated by the syn fluid. I am going to Amsoil soon. I will be going to the Supershift Racing fluid. A little on the expensive side and at the time my tranny was built I hadn't looked into much outside just the regular synthetic. The BTE fluid is made for hi-po trannies and it was available from the same place I bought all of my tranny parts.
  12. No matter who has the head job at the whitehouse - comments like that really take away the amount of sacrifice that the men and women over there make everyday. As far as Bush making mistakes - is there someone else you can compare to where the enemy has hit us here at home? I just wonder how many people would have been saying he didn't do enough if something similar to 9/11 happened again? It was the previous administration's fault for not doing enough that got us to 9/11.
  13. Ouch! Did you send those to jet hot yourself, or is that what they do for coated headers?
  14. Okay well....you got me there - I guess. kindegarden? Not exactly sure what that is, but if you mean Kindergarten - I would agree. However, your mastery of the english language wouldn't be too far above that. Is it your 2nd language?
  15. Magna can't be beat for ease of install and daily driver. You get everything you need in one handy kit. I would also put the shift kit in at a minimum. A larger cooler and hi-performance tranny fluid would only help also.
  16. i bet you could abuse your powers to make up for it in other places. yes youre intitled to youre opinion same as i am. and my opinion is i dont give 2 shits on what you think. you think your some type of hardass but in the end probably nothing more then a typical mushface. you also speak like youre big and shit sorry doesnt do shit for me and others would probably feel the same <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It wouldn't be abusing powers if you are attacking someone for their opinion in the manner that you are (especially since I have warned you about it in the past) - at least if I refer to my guidelines that have been provided to me - it isn't. I am not sure I understand the rest of your post.
  17. On the other side of that - what you do with your truck is your business and what I think shouldn't matter as long as you like it.
  18. Touchey little dude aren't you? Use of anything that was originally designed to be used with a Dale Earnhardt edition SS for other than it's original purpose, in my reverence to whom that was, is just absolutely sad IMHO. I don't think I would be totally alone in that thought. I am entitled to an opinion. I won't get lost, but I could could accidently loose your thread.
  19. I'm still lost at the reference to "intimidator" - Is this about a Dale Earnhardt edition SS?
  20. The lph cams are known performers, but I'm more toward the side of custom also. I also would go with Futral Motorsports for that cam. You already have roller rockers, but some TEA Gold springs and moly pushrods would be a good addition with the cam. The timing chain is a personal pref thing. The Rollmaster double chain is a nice piece and fairly inexpensive. If you plan to do that, then change the oil pump at the same time. If you do the pump also, remember to put the pickup tube in and bolt it down before placing the pump on the driveshaft or bolting it to the block. You'll keep from pinching the o-ring that way.
  21. I didn't have any problems with my LS2 90mm.
  22. I have experienced occasional misfires that I have had go away just by taking a pair of slip-joint pliers and placing the boot in the center round area and squeezing lightly to push in the contact area all the way around. It doesn't take much. New plug wires sometimes come with connectors that are a little on the large size and don't necessarily make ample contact with the plug. Also, some plugs have the screw out ends (where the plug wire attaches) that can come a little loose. Generally speaking, misfires come from problems with the plug, plug wire, coil, and in some cases injector. Bad gas can also cause issues. If you have a scanner and can narrow to which cylinder/s is the problem, it is much easier to work the problem.
