  1. Thanks for the info, much appreciated..
  2. I would like to remove my cats and weld in some electric cutouts. Can anyone help with tuning the PCM so the post-converter O2 Sensors do not report an error and ignite the lights? Is this the only approach or is there another way to trick the PCM and Sensors without tuning? Thanks for your replies...
  3. I have installed a flex-a-lite efan with variable speed control unit. It works great and the install was simple. The variable speed control works nice but does not seem as precise as if the computer controlled the fans. There is a temp sensor that goes in the fins of the radiator, Im not sure how acurate this is because I have been trying to get the fans to come on at a cooler temp but cant seem to get it dialed the way I want it. I never thought of patching into the PCM until after I installed the unit. Can anyone help with patching this unit into the PCM?? If there is a thread on here please let me know.. Any help will be great.. thanks for your replies..
  4. Thanks for the replies.. You wouldn't happen to have a link to the thread you mentioned? I have a tuner but would like some more info.. Thanks...
  5. Im About to cut these restrictive converters out of the SS. Has anyone experinced a check engine light coming on after removing them? I know the pre-coverter O2 Sensors are patched into the PCM to determine the propper air/fuel ratio I believe is 14:7:1 But the post-converter O2 Sensors have no effect on the PCM except to determine the efficiency of the converter. Is it safe for me to say that the PCM should not throw any codes or ignite the check engine light?? Thanks for your replies...
  6. Is there anyone out there who has performed aftermarket piston and rods installation on the LQ9 with the engine in the vehicle?? I was just wondering about this? I am about to install radix, heads, cam, lifters, rockers, basically a new top end. Since the heads are being upgraded we thought why not upgrade the pistons and rods at this point. I know the pistons and rods can be extracted by using a ridge reamer if there is a ridge atop the cylinder walls and by removing the oil pan and pump assembly to access the crank. Just wondering how difficult is this approach for piston and rod upgrade?? I was concerned mostly about honing out the cylinder walls to accommodate new rings, not getting metal debris on the crank.. I can just as easily yank the motor in my shop but was curious if anyone has ever done the job with the motor in the truck.. If it can be done I would like to hear about it. Mostly about getting a bottle brush hone in the rear section of the block to acheive a good crosshatching and then cleanup of any metal debris.. Thanks for your replies...
  7. Hey Mr. P, Thanx for the info. I am originally from Bklyn but now residing in San Francisco.. West Coast.. I would definitely be interested to upgrade the output shaft.. If I am going to spend all the time and money installing the performance parts, I should also do some preventative measures with regards to the transmission. Do you have any other recommendations with regards to beefing up the drivetrain??
  8. Hi, New to this site.. I have been hearing so much about so many performance upgrades being installed on the Silverado SS AWD trucks. I myself own a 2003 SS AWD with about 60,000 miles clocked so far, and currently about to install a slew of go fast goodies, Radix Supercharger, trick flow heads, crane cam, rockers, lifters, and all the other go fast goodies. I have also been hearing some concerning issues regarding the transmission output shaft? Can anyone provide some more info as to why these parts are failing? Can it be the insanely aggressive shift kits, or the ridiculous huge stall torque converters that are being installed?? I have witnessed many performance upgrades without damaging the transmission, but have also heard many nightmare stories. If anyone has some light to shed on the subject please do. What precautions can be taken, what upgrades should be considered for the trans if these powerful performance parts are being installed on the motor?? We all know that GM never intended to have the LQ9 fitted with a monster induction system cramming gobs of air down the hole, as well as cams, etc, etc.. But can it be done without breaking the tranny? Thanks for your replies..
