  1. ok i have a 2007 vortec max nbs and i need to know what size the exhaust is where the cat back exhaust starts right after the flange. i am looking for a y pipe to split it and need to know what size the pipe is. thanks for any info.
  2. I am currently deployed and i have ordered a superchips, dynatech headers and high flow cats, and a K&N intake for my truck performance wise. i have a crew cab 4wd and i was wondering what the basic quarter mile times every one has been getting. i am probably going to get a custom tune for my truck when i get back permanently, but does the superchips get rid of the throttle delay problems that apparently everyone to include myself has been experiencing. i know that they have VVT and DOD and i am trying to figure out if anyone has been able to fix the VVT. my truck is sluggish until about 4 grand and then it takes off like it has the powerband of a 2 stroke drt bike. has anyone else noticed this and does anyone have any suggestions of how to get rid of the sluggishness in the low end. does anyone have any other suggestions on how to get any more power out of the L76. i was thinking about bolting on some L62 heads from the 6.2 from the denali and escalade, but haven't heard of anyone doing it to this engine yet. any other suggestions for added horsepower. thank you.
  3. ok so i should have the dynatech system at my house in a couple of days, but i won't be able to put it on for about two months until i go on leave. i ordered the shorty headers and high flow cats. i ordered 2 10 series flowmasters, but i have a single inlet dual outlet cherrybomb on it now. does anyone have any idea if i am going to loose too much back pressure by going with two flowmaster. if i am then i am just going to stay with one pipe and either keep the cherrybomb, depending on how it sounds, or just put one flowmaster in place of the cherrybomb. thanks
  4. i am in iraq so i can't check the heads. also thanks for the cam info. i will have to look into one of those companies.
  5. the L76 has VVT and DOD. i don't know if the 6.2 has DOD but i know it has VVT, so my question is am i going to run into conflict with putting L92 heads on my L76 engine. i know that the L76 intake is a very good intake and that it bolts up and works very well with the L92 heads, but i don't know if the engine is going to like the bigger valves with VVT or DOD.
  6. i don't know anything about the oil port in the front cover. i noticed before i deployed that my truck was a bit sluggish in stock form until you hit about 4000 rpm and then you could feel the power kick in. i am guessing that this was the vvt now. i hope that with a programmer i can change the timing a bit earlier than that. well the L92 heads come on the new 6.2 liter i believe and i know that engine has vvt so i might be able to get away with keeping the same cam and just go with the L92 heads so i don't have mess with all of that other stuff. mine is a daily driver and i am not trying to race it every weekend or anything. it is going have 33's on it anyway. i have been looking at a few LS2 forums to see the gains that they are getting with the heads and they seem to be pretty good and you can pick them up from the dealership completely assembled for under a 1000 dollars. i would probably change the rods, springs, and put titanium retainers while i had it out just to make sure everything was going to work well together. do you have any other suggestions for extra horsepower. thanks
  7. i am not sure if you are suggesting that i have a 6.2 or if scoggin dickey does work on 6.2 liters. I have an L76. that is a 6.0 not a 6.2 liter. I am not positive, i am still reading on it, but i believe that the L92 heads come on the 6.2, but they aren't on my engine unless i am mistaken. thanks for the information. i will definitely look up some more things. does anyone else have any good info. does anyone know if the vvt is electronically controlled or mechanical and can it be shut off that way. thank you.
  8. i have a 2007 vortec max with the L76 engine. has anyone done any mods to that particular engine? does anyone know if a cam is going to conflict with the VVT? if so should i just go with L92 heads and keep the same cam or should i go with 1.8 rocker arms. Does the L76 have the stronger main rods like the LQ9. i would think so, but haven't found it online yet. i have a K&N intake, Superchip, dynatech headers and high flow cats, and 10 series flowmasters. i am currently deployed and haven't put these parts on yet so i am also wondering if anyone has modified the L76 yet, what they did, and how much horsepower and torque are you gaining. i have been told that i need to go with a custom program and probably will when i get back, but this will work for now until i get done modding it. thanks.
  9. i ordered the dynatech headers and high flow cats for my truck yesterday. i am sure that i will be pleased with the gain as well as the sound. thanks for your input.
  10. i am looking at getting dynatech headers and cats for my truck. does anyone know with those two mods what the horsepower difference is. by loosing that much back pressure has anyone had problems with loosing low end torque. thanks for anything you guys have.
  11. thanks for the reply guys. i will look into a custom programmer, but i am going to stick with the superchip until i get back from iraq permanently. can you just put the mods that you have added onto the truck into the programmer or how does that work. also do i need to put it on a dyno to properly tune it or can i get it close with out putting it on a dyno. i have also thought about a cam and heads, but i don't want to have any warranty issues. any other mods. has anyone stuck a five speed automatic in their truck. does anyone know where to find one and about how much they cost. i also had shorty headers on my 03 and it helped a little bit, but mostly it just changed the tone of the exhuast just a little. thanks for the replies. i appreciate it
  12. i have a 2007 vortec max. i am currently deployed until about dec of 2008 and i am i looking for performance mods for it. i have ordered a superchip, two 10 series flowmasters, and a k$n intake for it. i am looking for other easy bolt on mods, but i am trying not to crack into the engine. if i have to i will do heads and a medium cam, but does anyone have any other mods that are relatively easy and worth the money. if i do put different heads on it does anyone have any suggestions, and does anyone have any cams that they know will work well with out messing with the computer too bad. i just want a medium cam. nothing too crazy. thanks
