  1. Saw a newer Denali race at the local 1/4 mile track this past Friday. He ran a 14.14, 13.90, 13.92 and a 13.96 but I don't remember what any of the MPH were. I'm not sure what all he had done, but definitely had exhaust it sounded great!
  2. We've got 8 tunes in it so far. Currently I haven't been driving the truck to work, it works fine and actually makes just as good fuel mileage as my 5.3 does on a highway. But I can't safely drive it in the city. When I start it up the first time of the day it will usually stall once before I get it out of the garage then once I do get it moving it surges and the rpm jumps up and down 300-500rpm on a steady cruise until the motor is up to operating temp. Command start rarely starts the truck, it tries but won't. I have to have my foot on the gas to start it, unless its +15 or more celcius outside. If I sit and idle in traffic it has a habit to not take off when I hit the gas. It will sit and sputter at 1000-1200rpm for 10-15 seconds before moving, pedal to the floor does nothing and you must be very very gentle and ease into it. How safe is that when trying to make a left turn at an intersection? I have a few friends wanting tunes to their vehicles but don't want to touch anything if they have to wait 2 months like I have. I guess it must be mod season for everyone and they all want new tunes. I received my last update on May 9th, thats over 2 weeks...
  3. First off I want to say that I have had 4 vehicles in the past tuned by Zippy, and they were all bang on. Sent the factory tune, a log, and within a day or two I had his tune back in the vehicles and running great. He is always there to answer any engine/tranny related question I had aside from tuning questions. I called and emailed many times about different motors, getting his opinion on camshafts and other bolts ons for my vehicles. Heck he even gave me a recommendation for my old Pontiac 400 in my GTO! I recently dropped a 6.0 in place of my 5.3 in my 2007 GMC, put a cam that he recommended and used his list of part numbers that I was going to need to remove DOD and VVT. This was all more than anyone should expect when paying the small amount he charges to tune their vehicle. So my question is, other people who are getting him to tune a vehicle that has been modified and needs more than one or two updates, does it usually take a while? I think we started tuning this motor back at the end of March. Its now near the end of May and not finished. How long does it normally take to get a vehicle running well? I did add headers and exhaust recently as I just want the tuning done and not have to go through this in a few months again if I had put them on at a later date. I know he is an extremely knowledgeable guy when it comes to tuning and modifying vehicles, but I'm just curious if it takes this long for everyone?
  4. Had this happen right before I sold my SS last year. Did what one of the above posters mentioned, pull a battery cable and hook up a multimeter. I actually just used a test light, it was shining bright, I pulled fuses until it went dim. Ended up being my power/heated seat fuse under the dash. The fuse panel is just left of the brake pedal. Must have been a short in the seat element. Ended up putting in a relay and used 12V directly from the battery to the seats that was only on when the key was turned on. Guy drove the truck 3 weeks and wrote it off lol. Just saying, don't forget the pull the fuses from the panel "under" the dash.. I didn't even know it was there until this happened.

  6. I know this isn't about a Silverado SS. I just sold my SS a few weeks ago, had purchased a 2007 NNBS black crew cab GMC in August, mint shape, fully loaded, but 248,000kms. The lady had the oil changed the day before I picked it up. I have put roughly 4000km on it since I bought it. Today I went to our other yard to look for some snowmobile parts. My DIC center told me to check engine oil and add engine oil. I thought that was funny, got back and checked it and its barely touching the dipstick. I had checked it before I bought it and it was indeed full. Looked under the truck and it isn't/hasnt leaked out. So my question is, what direction should I go. I have an early 6.0L longblock I bought a few months ago for a couple hundred bucks. My plan was to build a 408 and stick it in my NNBS, or into my 70 GTO. I haven't pulled it apart so I am not 100% the block is good. Guy told me it had started burning oil. Obviously I have to dig into it deeper to verify it can be used, has no cracks etc. First option. I can buy an 2003 LQ9 with around 120,000km and use my NNBS intake and drop that in my truck. Will cost me $1200-1500 for the motor, not positive on price yet. Or, get my 6.0L apart and start ordering crank, rods, pistons for a 408 and have the machine work done. Am I able to use the 243 heads that are on my 5.3, or use the 317's that are on my 6.0L I have in the shop if I went 408? Can also pick up a 6.0L from a 2007+ truck, L76 motor for $1750, it has 126,000km on it. These used motors are from the salvage department of Saskatchewans only insurance company. Motors are out of wrecked vehicles. I was just about to order a 6" lift and 35" rubber for my truck. Guess that won't be happening. I need to be able to drive before I lift it haha. I miss the power of the SS, this is a much heavier truck so the more hp I have the better (450hp would be amazing eventually). Won't be at the track, if I did go it would be like once or twice a year. I will be pulling a 5000+lb trailer once in a while. Don't really have a max budget, I'm Ukrainian and like to save my money, so the less I spend the better. Probably able to throw $3000 right now at building a 408 if that is what the best option would be. Could just do a factory 6.0L and throw and cam and maybe even ported heads at it. What direction would you go?
  7. Bought mine in 2008, sold it this past thursday. 24 yrs old now.
  8. Here are a few pics. My 05 IQR with my GTO and SS in the backround. The all red sled is my bro's 04 pro xr 440 chassis with a 600 in it. I had bought that one in 2006. Few pics over the years. Nothing special. Hope to have some great pics this year. Got 10"+ of snow already out at the farm. http://s1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa347/jholodniuk/Sleds/
  9. I bought a 2007 GMC sierra SLT CC about 2 months ago. It makes less than 1mpg better than my SS and not near the power. Yes it rides like a dream, very quiet in the cab, lots of room, no rattles or wind noise and what not. But when I drive around in my new truck, I see black GMC/Chev CC's all over the place. I'm no longer different than everyone else. Atleast riding around in my blue SS I was different, I liked it that way. I still have the SS, waiting on a guy to get approved at the bank then it will be gone. I was going to part it out if it don't sell, but I dunno, I know I will miss it badly when/if its gone.
  10. If you guys just read the first page there is a link to my for sale ad. Price is in there...
  11. I'm going to try sell it for another week. There is an auto auction coming up I will take it to, I will put a lower reserve and if it don't sell for to much I will keep it and part it out. I have some plans for the drivetrain already. Would just need to sell the small stuff. Mirrors, cladding, interior, sheetmetal etc. I will update you all in the next week or a little more about whats going on with it. Thanks for the interest.
  12. http://saskatchewan.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-trucks-2003-Chevrolet-Silverado-SS-W0QQAdIdZ319451206 Its has some history this truck. Been totalled in 2003 in Texas, thats what the carfax said that I got after I bought the truck April of 2008. Its a "previous total loss" truck, or has a "salvage title" down in the states. People are scared of it. Tranny slips going into second at times, hood is flaking, whoever fixed it never even scuffed up the edp coating on the new hood before it was colored and the color has started to flake off in the car wash. Passenger fender at the top it is doing the same thing. The rest isn't to bad. Stone chips on the back cladding behind rear wheels. Will need high build primer and then color to match your truck. I can prime them and block sand before selling, not a big deal.
  13. http://s1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa347/jholodniuk/Silverado%20SS/ Try that. The rims probably aren't helping me sell it, they are ugly as f***. They came on the 07 NNBS I bought so I put my boss 330's from the SS on my newer truck.
  14. Ya me and 03silvss are both in the same city. His truck is mint tho, I don't think he'd want much of mine.
