  2. im from gardendale. 15 min. north of birmingham,al. there is several nbs and a couple obs max's around gdale. just wondering if any of you guys are them. so far i've seen red cc 4x4 vmax w/stock wheels red cc 4x4 vmax w/ 20's both old body style nbs grey chevy cc 4x4 w/ fac 20's nbs grey gmc like mine. nbs black cc 4x4 w/ fac 20's and a hard tonnunue cover nbs white cc at lowes this mornin. and a few others im forgetting. yall speak up!!!!!!
  3. latest update for all. got my blackbear pcm in this week. man, what a difference!!!!! this is the best money i have ever spent for a pef. mod. JUSTIN IS THE MAN!!!!!! i can tell about a 150% difference. now, it drives like it should.gm should have tuned these trucks like this from the factory. special thanks goes out to justin for giving me extra help for a computer stupid customer.
  4. i'm on justin's waiting list too. i am stock running wise and gonna go with the tune first. more noticable bang for the dollar. and the thing is he said if i do ad cai and catcack it will tune itself, cause it would be in the paramaters. so tune then other mods.

  6. some cat on ebay keeps putting one on there. its the 3 piece like you want. but this week, i didnt see it. imagine that. but if your dealer buddy doesnt hook you up try ebay and type in "vortec max". he'll relist them i, sure. i look there often.
  7. the sport pacakge not only came with the graphics yall speak of on the tailgate, but some did have 350ss on the bedside. real difference was the blisten shocks, like found on the Z-71 pkg, the wider chrome wheels like the 454ss, and the bfg comp t/a tires only on the sport package. also, all i seen had the high back bucket seats with center console, and the tach, which was on option until 95. then it was standard. also i believe the 350's had the 10bolt rear, but had 3.73's and that factory locker. worked well for what it was. as for the 454's, the 90 model had the th400, and 3.73's i believe. along with the 9.5" 14 bolt rearend. in 91, they went the 4l60, and acually the lowered the gear to 4.10's. with the od it got better mileage, but wasnt never good. i used to live and breath these trucks. i was in high school, and was stuck wit ha 2.8 pwred s-10. always wanted a nice 350ss or 454ss. youres looks really nice. around here, well worth the 2500 bones you paid for it. shame is, i just chunked a dealer book with your truck in it. i would been happy to ship it to you.

  9. you got the same as i do. i hope your happy with your's. mine is the biggest disappointment i have ever had for all the talk about the max. im gonna wake it up with a custom tune but cant find a dealer that can work on it. got a surge in the engine and dont wanna custom tune it until i get the surge fixed. welcome the the site!!! and hope you enjoy youre new max!!!!
  10. mr. p fill us on that a little more. i have an 08 and its for sure an alumium block and its a 6.0. they didnt offer a 6.2 unless you got a denali. they told me no way to order a 6.2 at all. then i hear that for 09 you are gonna be able to get one. and there doing away with with the 4 spd tranny in favor for the 6 spd already found in the 2500's.
  11. well i started on this site b/f i got my new vmax. i was really thinking out of the box these things were bad azz. but i see all of your point. i've done research and i need a wheatly tune. i will have to catch him of one of those no core deals, as i need my truck. dont have a week to let her sit. ill keep all informed. but still, imo, it should blister a 5.3 in stock form. i may not have mentioned b/f, but i came from a 01 2500hd with a fat block. now that by god would get it done!!! even with stock tk management it was a hoss. guess i was thinking the lighter vmax would outrun my old 100k miled up 8.1. boy was i wrong.
  12. i do want a few more mods. but seriously, in stock form the vmax should smoke a 5.3. i know about the tk management killing these trucks off the line but dam, i still should beat him.
  13. i pulled a 26' gulfstream loaded with fresh water and lots of ice and beer. it pulled really good for a small block. i have the factory trailer brakes and they worked great. coming back both black and grey tanks were pretty much full and i had just bought water so it was about 90%.... really loaded. but it did pretty good and i was pleased. i wish i would have gotten a 5th wheel now. but like you said it might not have fit. after pulling this bumperpull, i would not think twice on a 5th wheel camper if it would fit in the bed and still turn ok
  14. well i hate to rattle on but heres the rundown. 2 identical(except color) 08 gmc crewcab 4x4's. buddies is 5.3 w/3.73 gears. mine is 6.0 w/ 4.10's. we ran redlight to redlight quiet a few times. i jumped him off the line but not much. maybe 1 -2 truck lengths. and then he would keep up. then the big one. turned left on 4 lane. about when he straitened up he punched it and so did i. we ran to 80 and i could not get him. he wasnt loosing me but i sure as hell wasnt gaining. right on his azz but could not have passed him. i am very disappointed in my power. i have 2100 miles and he had 2500. both probably not broke in but still with the gears and more ADVERTISED hp i sould have been able to pass him. i took it back and dealer told me" truck performes as supposed to" now there is no reason to buy wheatly tune or cai if in stock form it will not run. anyone know of a dealer in the birmingham area that actually knows what a max is, and not just another truck in the service bay?
  15. sounds like they fixed it. all of us might wanna check that often. more parts spinning more wear, less milage, and most important. less pwr..............
  16. well making no excuse for gm's robot not tightning the strap bolts. but the front shaft does not turn in 2wd. well, if you had it in autotrac then it would. i would check it and it outta be free when in 2wd. if it isnt, it is causing premature wear and loss of pwr/ milage. on the grounds of more moving parts. btw, glad you had no permanent damage
  17. you kinda indicated that the shaft was maybe turning? how come? were you in snow or in the woods? or did it fall out and banging on the road come up into the oil filter?

  19. thanks for ideas. i got black nerf bars and just ordered the ccm 2.5" leveling kit w/ the rear blocks. just wanting a little higher than others. ill get tints, spray in and then go for cai and then custom tune. that extra muffler or whatever its called at the very rear can't be helping none. looks like something that has to go. also, she wont burn 'em. i read on here about tm. it really sucks. how do we get rid of tm? ps first 360 miles on the first tank and it got 15.5 mpg. not bad for not being broke in yet i thought
  20. newbie here. just took delivery of my 08 ccsb 4x4 vmax i ordered. took 1 month,3 days to get here. not bad i thought. first, i didnt know they had an alumium block. i knew some 5.3's had it but not this one. second, i would like to whoop hemi's and i forces. i know i started heavy with cc and 4x4, but i needed them. so, 4.10's was a start. i dont have funds for superchargers and tranny upgrades. so other that cai and catback, what yall recommend? which cai and catback and looks like special tune and no handhelds are the most common. also, anyone else in the bham area?
