  1. That sounds amazing Randy... I'm jealous now lol... I had my SSS out this weekend and all I get is the 10' or so front tires spinning and kicking the front sideways just a little and back to right before full grip lol... Now I really need to work on my Nitrous install so if we ever meet I wont be embarrassed lmao...
  2. Check out devils own products... I picked one up from them for around $250 with two different size jets... It requires you to use your existing windshield washer fluid reservoir, but as long as you don't use any washer fluid with glycol you will be fine... The generic blue bottle stuff at -20 to -25 below works great and has a roughly a 30-35% alcohol to water mix.... If you want more alcohol just add a couple bottles of the yellow heat to your gallon and that should bump the mix up a little bit.... this is all I do right now plus its ok to still use for your normal windshield washing demands lol... This is roughly what I got, looks like they went up in price by about 50$--- http://www.alcohol-injection.com/en/universal/8-universal-stage-1a.html
  3. I currently am running red eagle clutches in my 65E and no problems yet and by no means am I easy on her... My stock clutches were burnt up before we rebuilt the trans... Those Alto's claim to hold good up to 230' temps, so unless your tranny is boiling hot you should be good... I built my tranny over 5 years ago, once we got her back together I filled her up with some good ole Oreily's ATF and a bottle of Lubegard friction modifier and no problems yet...
  4. Yea ummm 150 or 200 maybe a bit much with my Maggie lol but a 75-100shot should make her scream X2... 1. it will hopefully supercool my intake charge and significantly improve my old mp112 heat soak on top of my meth kit that's already installed and #2 the extra kick in HP on top of that from the Nitrous...
  5. My ole black betty is getting the bottle too this spring!!!! Cant Wait!!!!
  6. I have no drone at all after my x-pipe install... I too cut out the cats and replaced them with e-cutouts, true dual to an x-pipe and back to two magnaflow mufflers and dual out the back and my sound is awesome when I step on it and mellow when I am cruising... I am running Gibson shorties at the moment, so I wont know if LT's will make it sound louder or drone...
  7. Could you elaborate on the AWD being the weakest link? I know the transmissions are horrible if you do any performance mods to your truck but if it was to stay stock the transmission is supposed to be pretty reliable... As far as the AWD goes I am still running my stock Transfer case and have heard them take upwards of 1000hp before destroying...
  8. I have had many quads and three wheelers in the past as well as all types of dirtbikes and road bikes.. One of my favorites was a track ready 2000 R6, fast as hell... Currently I have -1978 Honda 250 Enduro bored 30 over -2011 1300 Stryker murdered out. -1998 SRX 700 modded out -2000 MXZ 700 millennium edition bone stock -1978 Yamaha Exciter 440 -1997 16'ft tracker side counsel with a 70HP Evinrude. Perfect small fishing boat... - My 2003 SSS is a toy too My DD is a 2007 Colorado with a 4" skyjacker lift and 33" MT's with a badass kenwood speaker and amp combo pushing 2 Kicker CVR's
  9. Well it was a short winter... Its been 50's and 60's here and it rained once already... Time to get the SSS out of storage ... I am back gents!!!

  10. Congrats- Not many clean SSS's left roaming the streets of MN that the salt hasn't devoured yet...
  11. I have an extra chain gear I am just not sure which one it is... I think when I bought it someone had a smaller gear on it and I couldn't get traction no matter what I did so I swapped back to the stock one or maybe its even a 39T idk... BTW- I believe going up a tooth would yield better top end and slower acceleration with our sleds.... But since acceleration from the hole shot with these beast are not a problem I think a 38-39tooth would be perfect for what you want... I never had to change the chain because I still had enough room to move on the tensioner... I'll double check tomorrow on what I got... I might take the ole girl for a rip as well hehe... About your power valves, those are a must to get working on the SRX that's 10-20hp you are being robbed if they are not working properly... If that one is pulling through it needs to be replaced because it wont work properly with that extra slop..I have a SRX repair manual that shows how to adjust and check the servo for proper clearences... Too tight and you pull through and too loose they wont open when you need them too... Best way to check your cables and valves is to remove them completely from the engine and check to see if the cable moves loosely in the housing and the valve moves with it... Any resistance will cause them too stick while in operation... In idle I believe the servo motor should be bouncing back and forth you can take the servo cover off and still run it to see if it is working... - Got this off of totally Yamaha for SRX's 98-99 has 23/37 00-02 has 23/38 If you drop your top gear 1 or 2 teeth you will also need a 68 link chain. If you go up 2 teeth on bottom gear you can still use your stock 70 link chain.22/38 would be 1.73 ratio.23/40 would be 1.74 ratio.Lot cheaper to change bottom gear and the ratio is almost identical.I have a 22 top and a 40 bottom if you are interested in either of them. Both are almost new.Only used for maybe a mile testing.
  12. I found sticking to be caused by two things with our power valves... One is excessive carbon buildup on the valve and head itself were the valve goes into and two a worn out cable or fraying of the cable at the power valve but rarely in the servo itself... Oh another way they may stick is improper installment of a valve upside down... The oil spitting out is not a lot, just enough after a season of riding to see it on the chrome pipe cover... We can talk about SRX's all day... I do all the work myself and try to do research before attempting any backwoods remedies lol... So far my clutching is a mixed bag of hauk and bender parts and a 4200 engagement... I have destroyed a few belts and one so bad I thought I had a shotgun went off under my hood and blew my belt cover off taking my speedo cable with it... I might need to change some things still lol
  13. What are you running for pipes? I heard the stock ones flow very well and that aftermarket ones were a negligible change... I am running the hauck race loud growler or stinger or whatever its called 3 in 3 out for a silencer and love it besides drilling two extra holes for the exhaust to exit... lol... Also have you ever found out how to stop the oil from leaking around the power valves where the cable meets the housing... I have changed O-rings and gaskets multiple times and after a season of riding they start leaking mostly on the mag side spiting onto my exhaust pipe... I have just given up and made it my routine preseason fix just like cleaning the carbon off of the valves haha...
  14. It is getting to be a old snowmobile but that hood and triple pipes make it look mean still, but people still think its old and fail to realize that these SRX's were the fastest production sleds of their time and only the Thundercat 1000 could touch them and only at top speeds... I heard these SRX's had crank problems but I haven't had any problems yet after 6200miles... I am not sure if the original owner had it replaced when they had the recall or not... I know I haven't been easy on her and did the top end build with the same Weisco pistons you mentioned at around 5,000 miles... I think she is getting worn a little sounds like a sewing machine if you listen closely at idle... bearings are all nicely worn in LOL... I don't have my sled clutched to go that fast... I hit 105-110mph max or at least that is what my speedo says, But I can hit 99.8MPH in 1000ft with studs short track and slipping the whole way at the radar runs....
  15. It has its perks and things to do like ice drinking I mean fishing LOL... And a snowmobile, just think of crotch rocket acceleration on snow, but 100X more stability and handling or if you like deep powder carving where you step off and go armpit deep in snow... They are a blast and cost about the same as a crotch rocket new...
  16. Wanna RACE!!!! LOL.... I love my SRX I wish it had a longer track and reverse though... They do make a track and tunnel extension that will make her 142" for about $800 track included... I have done everything I can to this engine besides a big bore kit and a professional port and polish... Top end build, V-force reeds, stinger silencer, Primary and secondary clutching, Air box mod... I had to loom and reroute the wire for the main harness under the engine because it rubbed through which was common... These dam SRX's are a finicky machines too if you want it to run like top... Every year I try to clean the power valves and reset them... I have already replaced them all once due to wear and cables fraying errr.. Kind of a love hate relationship.... When it is running at its top not many sleds can touch it even the newer ones... Just added my wifes sled pic too, Its a beautiful sled with chameleon graphics that change colors as you walk around it and loaded with a bunch of chrome LOL... It was pretty so that's why she wanted it even though it is a bit to much for her power wise lol... It is a MXZ 700 Millennium Edition 464 of 500...
  17. Good advise ^ That's basically what I was like and did when I got out of the Corps due to medical reasons after 9 years... I suffered awhile with depression, I would only get 2-4 hours of sleep a night and I would always drown it out with gallons of alcohol but that too started to wreak havoc on my family life... I am one of the lucky ones though, that the VA was able to help me with the right medications for my sleep problems and pain management but most importantly, I found a Pastor that was a former Navy Chaplain of 20 years who dealt with marines his whole time in so he was able to relate and help me right away at my first counseling session with him and I still see him every other week... I only recently have found the full help I need as of last December so it may take you awhile to find what works for you... I have been struggling since I got out in 2011 but I finally found comfort after 4 years... All in all keep your hopes up bud, stay strong and find a doctor that knows his stuff to treat you and most importantly find someone who understands what you are going through so you can vent and unload on them all your problems and worries... I wish I can say your family is a good start to talk too, but for me it is the last place I could go because none of them have experienced my problems before and just do not understand... Finding someone who has struggled and defeated their problems or a professional who has experience helping others with PTSD is your best start... Another Semper Fi
  18. My truck is also a 2003 and I had 4:10's stock before I changed them to 4:54's... Never heard of any AWD SSS with 3:73's. They were geared down for a reason, one reason was because the truck had more parasitic loss through the SSS's AWD drivetrain than a normal 2WD truck had... No one in there right mind would have had one ordered for 3:73's unless, (they wanted it a slow dog out of the whole and grand illusions of big fuel savings) LMAO .... On top of it all in order for your speedo to read correctly someone from GM would have had to go way out of there way to also change the tune to correct it... As every other stock 2003 SSS would have been 4:10's with the exception of yours apparently... Probably a typo in the window sticker if it does say 3:73... a couple sources for your reading.... http://www.pickuptrucks.com/html/2003/chevrolet/silveradoss/firstlook3.html https://www.driverside.com/specs/chevrolet-silverado_ss-2003-3898-8351-0 Not the most reliable source but also states 4:10... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Silverado
  19. You might have a slow draw somewhere, Batteries don't like cold weather whatsoever. I always have problems every winter requiring me to jump start either the wife's car or mine... I had to jump my wife's car today actually because it sat 3 days straight like yours did except that we get a lot colder here for longer periods of time where I live than you do in PA... The last 3 days were highs between -1 to -9 and at night -20 with a windchill of -30 to -40... Which explains the dead battery where I live LOL... The best thing you can look for in a battery in places that have colder environments is if it has enough cold cranking amps... Try to find a battery that has higher CCA than you usually buy if you keep having troubles starting your car in the cold... Places like Florida and Texas don't need much CCA as they hardly ever see temperatures dip below 32' which most battery makers try to sell their product at... Cranking Amps (CA) are what a battery is tested at 32' holding a certain voltage for a 30 second engine crank draw while Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) is the cranking amps for 30secs at 0 and below.... Hope that makes sense... -Otherwise start poking around the fuse panel with a multimeter to see if there is any steady draw of power with the key off
  20. Yea 14.68 with a Maggie is a joke IMO... Either you are running in extreme temps at extreme altitudes or something is not right... The SS runs from 14.8-16.2 Stock and generally mid 13's to low 14's with a Maggie and a tune... Don't jump all over me if any of this is a little off but generally you cant argue the math... Look at it in comparison to the 2002 ford lightning 5.4L 380/450ftlbsTq which runs 13.8 stock and a curb weight of 4670 which is not much lighter than the SSS 345/380Tq at 5298lbs... They say for every 100lbs you lose .05 to .1 in a quarter... The two trucks are 628lbs difference which calculates to about .6 slower the SS due to weight at the extreme side... Now with the horsepower difference the SS wins when you add a blower to the larger displacement motor which maganacharger claims 120hp bolt on instant TQ and HP with tune..The new specs with the Blown SSS and Lightning are... Supercharged SSS - 465hp/500TQ curb weight up a little due to the heavier blower roughly 50lbs at 5348lbs .087hp per lbs TQ=.093 per lb 2002 Lightning- 380hp/450TQ weight 4670 difference of 678lbs .081hp per lbs TQ= .096 per lb Overall Analysis- is that Both vehicles would be very similar if the SSS was blown from the factory with a Maggie and with the power to weight producing slightly more HP but slightly less TQ they both would run respectively run the same... I'd side with the SS in the AWD format due to the better take off and theoretically faster by .1-.2 in the quarter as a result of no loss in traction if both vehicles ran stock tires.... With proper slicks on the lightning then I'd say both the same... Now do some weight reduction on the SS and you got a clear winner with more HP and more TQ... Finally over all 1/4 ETA for both the lightning and Supercharged SSS at 1000-2000 Elevation should be 13.7 SSS to 13.8 Lightning on stock tires... Little more info that I came up when I built my truck with that may help someone in the future and some rough pricing info broken down into my personal stages for my truck build prices don't include labor as I did almost all the work myself Id also recommend that if you use quality parts and do your research before buying stuff and by no means does this make my build better than anyone elses but I tried to stay as cheap but as reliable as possible something's just cant be cheapen out on...( I myself made a few mistakes along the way like falling prey to the TB spacer claims) LOL... Also I did all my upgrades for two reasons #1 to go faster and #2 to help the truck survive the beatings so IMO some of the parts are a must at certain stages such as the Transmission work in Stage 2 or you will be stranded not a matter of IF but when- 2005 Stage 1 upgrades- Cheapest stage Total $1400- Dual Exhaust Custom built $500, headers $400, CAI $250, Tune $250.... I'd comfortably say the SSS would run around 14.4-14.6 on a cool day 1000-2000' elevation... 2007 Stage 2- Total $2750- Electric fans $100, Cam and accessories to support cam $600, Transmission build Stall at 3000-3400, shift kits, servos, hardened internals $1400, and retune ( I did have my heads milled down a little and ports cleaned up of all the casting to bump the compression to 10:5-1) only ran me about $50.... I did also do 4:56 ratio change for the front and rear for a better stop light to stop light race cost about $600 but not necessary as they are a pain to do but well worth it if you like hearing AWD tires break loose LOL... Estimated 1/4 13.1-13.5 2008-2009 Stage 3- The BEST STAGE- Total $5750- MP112 with 2.8" pulley $4250 new, Meth injection to bring IAT's down especially needed if going lower than a 3.0 pulley $250, Larger intercooler reservoir $150, cooler plugs NGK BR6's while I was in there I went with 8.2mm thundervolt wires $50, Smaller pulley and slightly built motor I went with no MAF and 2 Bar tune $100 with a 90mm TB converting MP112 J-tube to fit the 4 bolt 90MM $150 plus x-link $250. And 60lbs injectors at $450 plus adapters $100... 12-12.5 in the 1/4 depending on temp and humidity... 2014-2015 Stage 4- IN PROGRESS- Total $1500- NX Express Nitrous 75-100shot used kit with purge, WOT switch, and window switch $650... Stand alone fuel cell and pump $350 opened but unused... Intake spacer plate injection through Rays new Nitrous port RDS $500... Hoping for 11.1-11.8 in the 1/4... Grand Total $11400 and this doesn't include fluid and other small changes and parts like relays and gauges and buying my own tuning software and such... I'd probably say I have about $13000 total in parts and probably double that price if I didn't do the labor for most of it myself...
  21. Mine is the black can with brass fittings located center of the attached picture real easy to do...
  22. ^^^^ Go for it Badbowtie!!! 60's would be perfect for you at 10lbs... Siemen dekas are a great injector.. you can get all the flow specs at racetronix.com.
