  1. Im in the process of rebuilding my motor. im having alittle bit of trouble find an engine bolt kit, head, rod, and main bolts, ect. id like to find a gasket and bolt kit together. i know theres only like two or three companys out there making these kits for the LS style block. so where can i find kit like these. I already know that you cannot reuse the factory bolts. but can you reuse the ARP stuff. im willing to speed a 1000 on a new kit.
  2. well i pulled the block today and found #7 piston was cracked. what would be a good piston for boost?
  3. well sense my motor is smoking im pulling it and rebuilding it. there is a couple of different way i could doit but id like to stroke it. there many different kinds of stroke kit what would be a good kit for a turbo. i dont want it to be a full out race truck just something that will eat a lot of stuff on the street. my truck is already turboed so now i just need a kit. and where to maybe find a couple kits. i still world like it to run on pump.
  4. im kinda thinking of ungrading my intake. what would be good for my boost app. ive seen the vic jr intake. and the fast i like the ls style intakes but the vir jr would be nice. any input.
  5. thats what the machine shop told me it was when it first started smoking. the crazy thing is that the swirl marks are still in every cyclinder from when it was honed at te factory. there is no signs of any wear on the walls at all. well ill pull the pistons later this week and then ill know what it is. hopefully it just needs rings. if i go with new pistons whats best for turbo apps. and is there any cam that go well with turbos. keep in mine i like to drive the truck as much as i can as long as the weathers nice. with the set up i have now it ran a 13.57 at 97.97mph. id like to be in the high 12s with meth.
  6. well i pulled the heads today 10/01/2007. theres no holes in any of the pistons the walls look really good. so im kinda stuck. i guess im gonna pull the short block and go from there im kinda thinking its the rings. heads look good also. any info of any thing else it might be? thanks
  7. what do you mean by style of intake? Ive only messed around with this turbo app for a couple of months. ive aways had naturally aspirated motor. its all kinda new to me. so all the info helps. im kinda finding out about boost the hard way. and im the only one around billings MT that has a turboed truck. i cant remember for sure what my air to fuel was its been about a month ago sense i drove it. but i do know that under full boost my pyro would get to about 1000 to 1100 degrees on the exhaust side about 5 inches off the turbo. ill find out if the piston is gone tomorrow im pulling the head. thanks for the info.
  8. well i did a leak down test today and they all read 180 psi besides # 7 would only held 60 psi. im not from sure what what they should be at. so i think im going to pull the head and start from there. do you know of anything else i should do before in pull the head?
  9. when i pulled the turbo off the truck i noticed that were the air comes in the turbo and were the boost is fed into the intercooler it is really oily but i pulled the housing on the intake side of the turbo off and it was very clean on and around the housing. i pulled the oil feed line off and i started it and it pumped out about a quart in a matter of 30 sec. but im going to do compression test.and go from there.
  10. i have a innovative wideband and when i pulled the turbo off it seemed to be runing at like 11.7 to 12.7 in fullboost. i pulled theturbo off and it seemed to be fine i just put the new turbo on a couple month ago. what would be some signs that the turbo seal would be bad.
  11. Ok here is my problem i have a 2003 silverado ss with a detriot speedwork turbo kit installed. about a month or so back the engine back fire while in full boost ever sense. its been smoking bad ive also noticed it seems to have bad blow by.its so bad that it looks like its blowing oil out of the dip stick tube were it enters the block. people have been telling me to do a compression test but thats out of the question turbo is mounted to tight against the block to get a tester in there. so i want to rebuild the motor. the only problem im kinda lost on were or what kinda of pistons to get. my end goal would to be able to run 15psi at the track. im currently runing 9psi. i already upgraded the tranny and added a stall so no problems there. if anybody might know what else it could be the info would be great. i kinda think its a ring or hole in the piston.
