  1. Zippy, would I be better off telling the dealer to put a nonposi back into it. Another guy that I work with had this done once and he did not have a problem again. Thanks for the tune as I would have had those hemi's.
  2. Thanks for the advice. I had it sent to a local Chevrolet dealer, who I did not buy it from, but wished I had. They have replaced a few rear ends for another guy at work who used to do the same thing I did. I did take the tune out as I have a spare computer. Does anyone have any ideas on how to toughen up the rear of these Chevy's? It is the weak point. 3 weeks ago I saw a 2006 GMC with a dealer plate break the pinion shaft off. The Hemi's are not that good when you have a good tune and equal out the horsepower.
  3. I had my wife's 2006 Silverado K1500 at a local fair last night. We pull a drag on a 300 foot dirt track. I got 161 feet down the track and heard a big bang. Broke something in the rear. In 4 wheel drive it still moves but if you try to turn into a driveway it makes alot of noise. Spider gear? I will take off my pulling tires this morning, remove blocking, take out the Zippy tune. Now what do I tell my dealer? I have a 30 foot camper. Maybe I should tell them that I was pulling that? I also have Magnaflow exhaust and K&N FIPK. Should I remove that also? Any info would be greatly appreciated. It was pulling good though until it went to wheel hopping and I as going to get those Hemi's.
  4. Can anyone tell me if there is a difference (Brake caliper) between the 16 inch wheel and the 17 inch aluminum wheel that came stock on my wife's 2006 Silverado k1500? I pull it at the local fairs and I have some Bridgestone Blizzak Winter Force that pull extremely good in the dirt. I bought some 16 inch steel wheels as I already had the 16 inch tires. They don't fit over the brake calipers. It looks like they use a bigger rotor, brake caliper now. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of this?
  5. It can't be just the heat. I had a 2003 and in the first year the passenger side came loose and crinkled it up like in the picture above. The driver side came loose also. I live in Maine and if I remember right it happened when it was cold. The dealer fixed it both times, no charge.
  6. I got my Magnaflow catback system from Performance Peddler, an ebay store. I paid $440 which included shipping. The other places wanted $540. They start out at the same price but you can make a counter offer. I offered $400 and they emailed back with the $440 offer. If you cannot find your application call them. The online catalog seems to be to generic. Good luck.
  7. Someone correct me if I am wrong but I did not know that you could take the tune back out of a Predator. I have one that was in my 2003 SS. I tried to take it out, I don't know if I was successful. Mine is only good for 2003.
  8. That is about it. Most of those options were standard on the LT model which the SS is based on. They took them off the SS and then made you pay extra for them.
  9. Does anyone know if the wheel nuts for the aluminum wheels also fit the steel wheels? I use my pickup for pulling a dirt track drag, and I found some 16 inch wheels to use on my wife's 2006 Silverado. I have a directional tire that I already had. The tread is to soft to run steady in the summer.
  10. Get Zippy, at Zippy Performance, to reprogram your computer. I just sent him mine for my wife's 2006 5.3.
  11. Sounds like it needs a new oxygen sensor. It probably has four. Autozone can tell you which one it needs. They are easy to change. I put one it my wife's car last year. Good luck.
  12. Ben, I still had the stock 2006 computer to put back in (which I have done). Bryan Herter had told me that the 2005 computer will work on the 2006. I just have to have him reprogram the 2005 to fit it. Thanks for the input. If there had been any major issues all I needed to do was call the dealer. It only has 2400 miles on it.
  13. Well I went through the relearn. Now I have 3 issues. 1. Reduced engine power 2. Battery not charging. (Although the guage shows over 14 volts) 3. Check engine light is on. Any suggestions? I still have the stock computer which I can put back in. Maybe I need to send it back to Bryan to reprogram. I was just trying to save a few bucks. Also the engines are different. The 2005 is an LQ4. The 2006 (which I want to reprogram) is an 5.3
  14. Thanks for the help guys. I will go out now and try the relearn. Neither of these trucks is an SS. My SS was traded two years ago. Bryan will reprogram one of my computers for $175. The 2005 will fit into the 2006. I'll try the relearn before I send Bryan one of them.
