  1. Well, I took out the bell tech bumpers today. They were compressed to half the height of the stock ones. My truck is so low that I couldn't get an uncut factory bumper in there. I had to cut the first nub off in order to wedge it into the cup. I drilled the second nub with 6 1/4" holes. Man, it's like I have a new truck. No more bottoming out or feeling like you have no air pressure in your tire when you hit a bump. To me, it rides just as good now with the 4/6 as it did at stock height which, on my truck, was as high as a Z71. I'm gonna order an extra set in case these eventually compress and lose their springiness, so to speak.
  2. I'm 4/6 with all McGaughy's on my 07 crew cab. McGaughy's spindles & keys up front. I screwed up & cut my factory bumpers too short so I switched to the bell tech bumpers about 2 years ago. They are apparently not as stiff as the factory ones as they are now compressed so they don't even touch the lower control arm at ride height. Last week, I tried to get SS bumpers, but apparently GM has superceded them to the regular z71 bumpers. So now I have a fresh, unmolested set of z71 bumpers. I want to make sure that I'm doing this right & don't mess up this set. From what I gather, I *should not* cut off the first small nub, but rather drill it with 4 1/8" holes & drill the second nub with 4 3/16" holes. Am I on the right track?
  3. Hey guys, I'm trying to find some shocks for the front of my truck. It has the torsion bar susp. I have McGaughy's spindles & keys. I found a place that sells the Bilsteins for less than $60 each. I think I really want them but I have heard that they would not work with it being lowered. I kinda thought about the BellTech Street performance shocks, but for the same price, I can get Bilsteins. Any suggestions/recommendations? Thanks in advance!
  4. the SSS cover is a lot larger than the chrome face bar so those brackets act as braces or supports, to keep the bottom & sides from flopping around while you're driving around.
  5. I've got welded hangers. I'm doing a McGaughy's bolt in c-notch & flip kit and I will be reinstalling the stock shackles once the flip is done.
  6. Long time lurker here. I've got a 2WD 07 Classic Crew Cab that came with VHO rims & torsion bar front suspension. I'm going to lower it with McGaughy's parts. I've already got the keys & shackles installed & the rear blocks removed. I'm going to install spindles & a flip kit/c-notch pretty soon. I'm wanting to know if anyone on here has successfully lowered a torsion bar suspension 4/6 & not had a crappy ride quality. I put smaller tires(275/45/20) on so I won't have any rubbing issues. Honestly, the truck rides like crap right now. I hate to drive it. I hit a bump & it's like dribbling a basketball. I cut the jouncers up front so that only one nub sticks out from the cup & it sits on the lower control arm at ride height. I also cut the rear bump stops, I think I cut 2 nubs off of them. Any tips or hints? Are pinion shims going to be needed? Will I have any alignment problems? Will the driveshaft need to be shortened? Pics of any SS or VHO's with a 4/6 would be much appreciated.
  7. the clear bowtie is indeed gold tinted. I painted mine graystone metallic and with the gold tint, it looks like a dark gold metallic. FWIW, I left mine completely soaked in oven off all night & it completely disolved the chrome plating.
  8. Hey guys, I don't post much, but I've been lurking for a while. I have an 07 Classic "Sport." They came with the same 20" rims as the VHO's. I have one wheel that is pitting a little bit. There are small spots where the chrome is flaking off. Anybody else had any problems with these rims doing this? My truck is not driven much. I have had it over a year now and it only has 3300 miles. I think these wheels are discontinued. How would GM handle this under warranty if they are discontinued? Thanks in advance
