I used them for the rear hole in the rocker that goes to the cab corner. thats how i connected the 2.

i never used the bracket, i was not comfy with drilling a million holes into the bottom of my cab. I found it to hold up really well with the right amount of 3M double sided tape, factory push pins and a good lock washer. Never felt flimsy, and lined up great! Here are a couple old pics of my truck.

I'm with when I added my power folding mirrors it was before I got my ss interior so they wouldn't fold... But once I got my interior and plugged in the ss door panels everything worked the power folding mirrors and heated seats...
