Well guys, I figure I might try and go to MIR for import vs domestic this weekend if I get a chance. Are there any pointers before I take the truck down the track? I normally drive around on 35psi so I am figuring I should drop it to 30psi. Also, I know burn outs are a no-no on stock trannies and I think break boosting is a no-no also. Any help is much appreciated.

Damn wish I was goin and my truck was faster lol. Sounds like you got the right idea though, drive around the water box if you can.

No burnouts but not because its hard on a tranny but because on street tires its counter productive....Stalling up may hurt you because of traction problems...your probably going to have to flutter your gas peddle off the line...ease into it

Good call Chase on laying into it instead of just nailing it off the line. I know atleast on the street even as slow as this thing is it will roast the tire off the line if i dont lay into it. Been to the track once and did the same thing but not nearly as bad.

i have heard this from many guys but have disagreed everytime. Not coming at you but i am wondering if you can explain why a burn out on street tires is bad. otherwise, i would do a burnout. stage shallow, just enough to light up the second stage light, and mostly i say launch off idle but with a 2 wheel drive you may get better traction loading it up. Loading it up on the line will keep your converter from flashing slighlty higher and may help your traction. keep the wheel as staight as possible any any small adjustment is not the shortest distance between 2 points anymore. Drop tire pressure as needed for traction, the 60 foot time is more important to your et then the top end speed lost by lower tire pressure, to a point.

Street tires are made of a harder rubber than DR's and slicks..Street tires are designed to resist heat there for heating them does nothing but wear them out faster and harden your tires quicker.

that is true, but isn't warm rubber stickier then cold rubber. when its winter the tires are cold and hard but in summer the durometer gets softer. from what i have heard the reason you don't want to do a burn out with street tires is once you warm them up and then they cool down the rubber will get harder then it was before, but it should still soften with heat.

The only way to know what works with "your" truck is to try it out at your track and see what she likes and doesnt like. Good luck man!

Street tires are designed NOT to heat up and smoking them will just make them greasy.

Agreed, heating up street tires is counter productive. I have experimented with this and have found that heating up street tires in the water box causes them to become slimy and will make you "blow the tires off" when you launch more often then not. I know I am late to this as you were probably already at the track, but the best way for you to launch is probably off an idle(partly because of your mods) IMO....
