DR44G Alternator

Okay so I currently have on my ISS a DR44G Alternator that is supposed to produce 145Amp. Not sure if anyone has had this issue, but sometimes when I'm driving I see the voltage drop to around 12v from the usual 14v. It doesn't happen all the time, but I'm wondering if the Alternator is going bad? When I purchased the truck 2 years ago, it came with it. Haven't done any modifications, don't have a sound system other than a Pioneer Double Din Stereo. Has anyone had this issue with their DR44G Alternator? Should I just replace it or would this be normal? Thanks!

when i did my dual electric fan swap, i swapped to the 145amp alternator and the 8 gauge charging wire was getting so hot it would burn my hand and would never go past 13 volts. swapped it out for a 4 gauge and now its only warm to the touch and runs around 14.4 volts.

So these trucks never came stock with a dual electric fan?

My '06 Intimidator SS has dual fans, OEM. I don't see any RPO codes in my breakdown that indicate that it's a special equipment option. I'm about 99% sure my wife's '06 SS also has them but it's not here for me to look at right now.

No..... mine with a stock alternator does the same. Totally normal. Its done in the name of fuel economy. Less drag on engine saves petro.....

Same here...

'05 and newer.

oh okay I was just wondering. My '06 ISS came with dual fans as well. Here is a stupid question lol. What is RPO?

RPO = Regular Production Option. These's a list in your glove box.
