Hey guys after years and years of searching and patiently waiting i FINALLY got another SS, its an 04' with 32k on the odometer, S & B cold air intake, JBA shorty headers, and a complete sound system, i started this topic to get suggestions from current owners of these trucks to protect it, what would you guys recommend to prevent it from getting stolen, didn't really get into this much because the 1st one i had i only had it for a month when a financial emergency happened i had to sell it? A sure thing besides the obvious storing in a garage.. any tips would be greatly appreciated

Nice truck! Congrats!! Taught you were dead set on a red one for some reason.. I like the black ones theyre my favorite.. start off by getting little things like the tailgate lock and some wheel locks.. might help a little to prevent thieves from taking your tailgate and wheels..

Nice low miles!

Quality pager alarm with starter kill but it must be installed by someone that gives a damn enough to bury the thing so that it's not easily popped out to disable it. Most guys have their "favorite spot" to install an alarm and that's usually an easy one for a thief to get to and snatch it out.

Tilt sensor on the alarm can help catch them jacking it up to steal wheels; it will also let you know if they snatch it with a wrecker but in that case it's likely gonna be gone too quick to do anything other than call the cops. At least if you're near enough that the pager can alert you, you can call them sooner vs. later.

Remove the driver door exterior handle, pop the lock cylinder out of it, fill the hole and paint it. Remove the rod that ran from it to the door latch. If they want in they'll break the window but that cuts down on their opportunities to easily get in the truck by popping the lock out of the handle.

Consider a Ravelco system, though again these are only as good as their installation.

Nothing gonna stop them from stealing it with a tow truck, but you can at least deter some of the regular crew.

Grats on the great find.

Just looked up Ravelco. Sadly there no authorized dealers or installers in my area, nor can I drive out of state to get this installed.

Luckily for you there's a few of them in cali. Sent them an inquiry email. Already had my z71 stolen last year.

Some people say it's good, the rare bunch say it could be bypassed, my initial thought was to install a Viper alarm with a two-way pager, and GPS tracking, if say i go out to dinner with my girl and somebody breaks into the truck, as soon as the door opens the alarm will start sounding and i would be notified on my phone( given that i download the application) and also on my pager, if they do manage to steal it, I can track where it's at, this with a combination of the club, and maybe another security measure like installing a couple of cameras around my driveway would be good IMO, what are you guys thinking?

I had a tailgate lock and mine got stolen. not hard to get off. Even a alarm wont do much good. These trucks that have been stolen have had alarms ad been dis armed in a few minutes with no siren going off. These are professional thieves, and then they get towed away. But my suggestion is to get a alarm regardless and have it hidden very well, along with a tracking device that only you and the installer know about like Low Jack. I dont mean in the dash, Somewhere like inside the frame where its hard to get to and spot.

Dont park it outside, keep it garaged if you can, dont take it shopping or leave it unattended. Wheel locks are easily removed all the time by just going to a parts store and getting the tool, say if you lost your lock. The club can be cut, Thats all old news. thieves are always with the times of new technology and thats how they get away. I didnt let mine out of my sight. If I was going to have to, I would take another vehicle.

Hmm. The pager/phone notification is always a plus. You can bypass the club in 20 seconds by cutting the wheel. They have the brake pedal lock. Cameras helps if they dont know its there.

When I used to be in the Honda game left only a few years ago, a group of low life's had a tow truck. They never did get caught.

Seemed like every week somebody's Honda or acura was getting stolen.

One had it on camera of two guys stealing a car. Dosent take them long.

Theifs know the games if they want it they will get it.

They sound a lot more pro than the guy who stole my truck. When i got it back after the recovery, it had a broken window, broken locks, an alarm installed for remote unlock, new ignition, a new exhaust, and a state id of the thief.

I am currently stuck in a rut, in my area to install a Ravelco system I'm looking at 499.99 plus tax, or my other option would be to install a high end Viper alarm with GPS tracking, tilt sensors, and starter disable I am looking at 500 for that one as well.. don't know wether to install a Ravelco system with a cheap Viper alarm and then put the club on it, what do you guys think?

Can you do high end viper with the ravelco and club in stages to do all 3?

As of now i called a few places about the viper alarm and it's around a little over $500 with starter kill and GPS tracking, for the Ravelco installed it's around $550 so right then and there I am looking at over 1.000 dollars easily which i don't have, i have the money to get the high end Viper alarm so i think that is what I am going to do.. not too convinced on the Ravelco  it is basically a kill switch on steroids, i figured i can do a hidden kill switch for much much less than that. The guy i bought it from gave me the club he used for it, he said a friend from the local police department had gave it to him, it's a bright yellow color so it must be a good club..

Man I can't agree with this anymore! I'm excited to get my SS out finally for a full season since I got a real one and it kinda sucks cause I know it will barley go anywhere. Simply can't risk it. I drove it to store a few times and within minutes I'm leaving cause I'm nervous about it sitting unattended. Anywhere I go, even when I had my rcsb clones, was somewhere I could always see them. Sucks we have to be so damn cautious cause these thieves out there. I always remembered growing up with my dad if we went to eat somewhere he requested a window seat where he could see his truck or car. Always laughed cause we assumed it was to just admire a nice ride he worked hard on. Now we have to do that just as a precaution. Hell, I even seen a member on Instagram (diaclow) that came home and her house was broke into and her rcsb autocross race truck was stolen from the garage in the process. Didt even have a dash or interior in it so had to be loaded up on trailer in pure daylight. Obviously came for truck and house items were a bonus. Unbelievable and terrible you can barley enjoy something and not drive it if you have to leave it unattended for more than 5-10 min.

I say just enjoy the truck and drive it.. its not like thieves are just looking for our trucks.. there are way nicer and more expensive cars out there and people still drive them everywhere... Im not saying not to add stuff that will help prevent getting it stolen, but whats the case of spending 20K or whatever you spent on it just to stare at it in the garage.. just enjoy your truck bro and dont be all paranoid about it.. itll suck for you and your family if you cant even go grocery shopping without being in a rush just because you think the truck is gonna get stolen.. just saying
