natalie
Hello All,I'm going to install a 4l85e behind a 6.0. I would like know if a stock 4l80 FLEXPLATE with spacer work and be strong enough. I have read some STOCK FLEXPLATES break don't really want to deal with that for the money I can save and buy a TCI. Any help is highly appreciated. This will be going on a 4x4 truck and be use for sand dunes stock for now.
zachm89
I ran a stock 80e flexplate in my awd procharged truck for quite a while with no issues at all.

I have the bolt TC 11.5 not sure if these flex plates are OEM. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LS1-Flexplate-for-4L80E-TH400-with-spacer-bolts-LS2-LS3-LS6-LS7-LQ9-LQ4-LM4-/271875167827?hash=item3f4d05d653:g:2E0AAOSwpDdVW4f6&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/LS1-LS2-LQ4-LQ9-LS6-Flywheel-Flexplate-for-4L80E-Automatic-Swap-/222288296224?hash=item33c16a3920:g:NMQAAOSwXeJYCSft&vxp=mtr
zachm89
Those two links don't look to be OEM, but are aftermarket stock replacements by the looks of them.
natalie
Those two links don't look to be OEM, but are aftermarket stock replacements by the looks of them. Either one should work then? Edited May 9, 2017 by oskar (see edit history)
zachm89
Yeah either would work just fine, just not OEM if thats what youre wanting. If I was going to buy a new one at all, Id bypass an aftermarket stock replacement and pick up something SFI approved. But like I said, I ran the factory one that came on my LQ4 donor motor for close to 2 years behind a 6.0L with a D1 procharger and never had any problems with it. Id probably be a bit worried about an aftermarket knock off of the OEM design.

I would never buy an aftermarket one.....

SuperStock
I broke 2 stock flex plates on my 80 in my 2500HD, replaced it with a TCI no problems since.
1BAD2K
I broke 2 stock flex plates on my 80 in my 2500HD, replaced it with a TCI no problems since. The TCI is a stout piece. I can see where people wouldn't wanna spend almost $300 though, but if you spend $1000+ on a converter......why not? Lol
