Downeast Johnny
I did this swap about 5 years ago, (Alt came from NAPA). I didn't have a problem with the plug but I did need a longer drive belt. If you can; Take your original alt in to match up to the new one. eberhama
I know the 05 ups have a different plug thats small compared to the '04 down one.
EXGM
Not sure if the plugs were the same on the higher amp version. From what I can find for that year it needs to be a four pin wide plug with rounded ends..... Maybe ask place you bought from if the higher amp interchanges.....? Pewter03
I had a 145a from who knows what I put it on my truck and the plug wasn't an issue. Even used the 105a belt.

The bolt pattern should be the same. i.e. I purchased a high amp alternator for my 97 K1500 and swapped it right in my 2004 SSS because the wiring harness was the same. Send your alternator back and purchase one with the same pin/pigtail setup on the wiring harness for your truck. someotherguy
Not unless your old alternator was bad or you had a serious load on it that was keeping it from charging properly. Everything working properly with either setup, voltage should remain the same. Richard
