Intimidator SS VIN question

I have an 06 Silverado SS Intimidator and when I bought it 10 years ago it never came with the certificate showing what number it is out of what Ive read was 933 built. Is the number somewhere in the VIN? Or is there a registry or GM website I can find out by VIN? Better yet, anywhere I can get a reproduction certificate or duplicate? .

Sorry if it's a repeat question, I'm new to the forum and havnt had time to browse it much yet. Thanks in advance for any answers!

No way to tell from VIN, no way to get a duplicate and no registry.....

Did you purchase new? It should have been given to you at time of purchase. You could always call the dealer and see if by some odd chance it's in the deal jacket.... my guess is unfortunately your out of luck.

The VIN itself won't literally tell you it's an SS/ISS (other than the basics of being able to decode it's a half ton with a 6.0), but getting a report on the VIN will show you the RPO (regular production option) codes - these are all the options used when the vehicle was built, indicated by codes on a list. You can get this list from compnine.com for a small fee, or if you have a friendly GM dealer nearby they can print out the same info from the "GM Vehicle Inquiry System"...

The RPO code you're looking for is SSI - this is the code that indicates it was built with the Intimidator package. The RPO record attached to your VIN is information straight from GM from when the truck was built, so it is definitive proof whether or not the truck is a real Intimidator.

As EXGM said, doesn't seem like anybody has had any luck getting a reprint of the Certificate of Authenticity. These were apparently provided by DEI (Dale Earnhardt Enterprises) and they don't seem to be interested in running reprints; you kinda can't blame them as I'm sure a few people would be trying to fake them.

The 933 production number does seem to be accurate for 2006 Intimidators. There were supposed to be 1033 made but the story is they made 933, and the other 100 were built as 2007 "classic" models (same truck as a 2006) but honestly I don't think any 2007 Intimidators exist? Anyway, without the COA, I don't think there is any way to know what # out of 933 your truck is. From the known #'s out there, it doesn't seem to correspond to anything in the sequential production # portion of the VIN.

Thanks for the info! I didnt buy it new, bought it used from an auction in 08 and was told it had belonged to a dealership manager. Not sure why he wouldn't have kept all the paperwork together, maybe certificate got lost along the way or misplaced at auction house. Was just curious about number, would have been cool to be number 1 or number 933. They are cool looking trucks though, still gets a lot of looks even at 11 years old. I appreciate the replies.
