Tailgate upgrades

Man its been slow on here! I thought I would share some mods that I did a few weeks back...

I added the Dee Zee tail gate assist... this is nice so the tailgate doesn't slam down!

I also added the Jimmy Jammer tail gate protector... (another member someotherguy aka Richard recommended). I didn't realize how easy it is to remove the tail gate so at least this would slow them down a little. The kit comes with an allen head bolt. I may upgrade it to a theft proof fastener in the future but for time being used the bolt that came with it. I would recommend having a metric tap set handy. The bolt hole on my tailgate was a little jacked up. I ran a tap in and out and cleaned the threads up and the bolt went in like butter. I can sleep a little better knowing its not so easy to remove now.

Those are both good looking products. I had seen the gate assist before and thought it was a great idea. Does it work pretty good? Can you just let the gate go, or do you still need to help it drop?

I'd never seen the gate protector before. Looks like another good idea.

It is getting mighty slow around here. 1Bad is right we need to petition GM about bringing back the SS and saving our site.

I knew Jimi Jammer made those little pieces that keep people from punching out your door lock, but was unaware of the tailgate protector until I bought 1fastbrick's silver birch SS for my wife. He installed it before bringing the truck to TX for me. I ordered a couple and so there's one on my ISS, too.

When you consider the cost and pain of sourcing the pieces to make another SS tailgate, or especially an ISS tailgate, the cost of the protector is practically nothing.

That's the trouble about learning about new things. I see it. I like it. I want one. I buy it. I spend money. I work overtime and the vicious circle starts all over again. lol

I was really nervous after seeing how many guys got their tailgate stolen. By the time you buy a new one and all the parts to make it an SS one plus paint, I bet your almost at $1000 bucks.....

Pretty cool! It does suck seeing how slow this site is becoming. GM needs to bring back the SSS in the K2XX platform.

Don't hold your breath.....

Yep the gate assist works good it doesn't slam down. It's not as smooth as the new trucks are but it works dang good.
