Replacing remote keypad

Recommended Posts

My #1 keypad isn't working anymore, I was looking at ordering 2 new ones just to be able to have both new. Has anyone done this and programmed the keypads themselves? Sounds pretty simple from what I've read but will the 2 keypads still function as 2 separate ones as far as having them set for driver 1 and driver 2?

The key fobs are numbered #1 and #2(although I think you can program up to 5 for 1 car) and are paired to the memory settings( if so equipped). I have both memory settings the same so I'm not sure on that part. It's just as easy to program as you read, takes about 2 minutes to do.

My number one remote doesn't work good. They no longer make the 1 and 2 version but rather one that is just blank on the back. My plan was to buy a new one from Rock auto ( they have the ac delco /oe one) and stuff the guts in my old #1 fob.

I was considering doing the same thing, or just replace both original ones with 2 new ones. Just wanted to see if anyone else had done so already and if the 2 memory settings in the truck were able to be saved with the newer remotes

Yes, it will save the two new remotes. The only difference is the fob will not say 1 and 2 so you will have to keep track which remote is programed as #1 and #2. I actually think these trucks will remember up to 4 remotes but you would only have seat memory etc. for only two.
