Auto Dual climate control missing cabin aspirator sensor

Recommended Posts

My auto dual climate control does not heat or cool properly. I cheaked everything and i noticed that my truck when i bought it has a custom headliner so its missing the aspirator in cabin temp sensor. It seems like there is no cuts in the wires i cant find where its missing from. Where does thr apirator connect to where does this harness run 2? To The dual climate control?

The aspirator is located in the headliner by the drivers head. If you pull headliner down you may see the wires up there. There is a small plastic grille the covers it. It is basically a fan and pulls cabin air into the sensor....

Note not my picture but I found on the 'ol interweb....

Normally that sensor sets about right above the drivers head. It's bundled into the main harness so I doubt anyone would of de-loomed the harness just to remove it. At the top of the A-piller the harnesses splits. One section goes along the front of the headliner (gets center console, XM, Onstar). The other section runs along the drivers side towards the rear of the cabin (gets center dome light, third brake light, cargo light, and the temp sensor). If I recall correctly that temp sensor connection would be within the first 2 ft of the split before it branches off to get the center dome light.

My other thought is did the vehicle originally have the non-digital climate control and did those vehicles get a different harness that removed that plug?

If the board they used to do the headliner was out of another truck, it was probably not optioned for it. The harness is hot glued to the board, and a pain to swap, so they probably just left it. I think it only uses that sensor in the "Auto" mode. I've had various auto temp trucks for 7-8 years now, and I've never used the auto setting.

Did the system ever work correctly? There are 4 motors under the dash. 1 for fresh air/recirculate, 1 for mode selection, and one for each side for temp control. You could try a new control, or look up the re-learn procedure for the climate control online. Doesn't require tools. Sometime the blend doors "forget" what position they're in. They're telling the control head they're all the way open, when in reality, they're only half open.

I hadn't heard of a relearn for the climate control before. I did a google on it and found some info.

Thanks for the heads up.

(A lot of these hits mention dealer and tech II) Good luck.
