80 psi oil pressure reading

My first guess would be to suspect a faulty oil pressure sending unit. They run between $27 and $36 at Rock Auto. A little expensive to buy on a guess.

You could take it to a shop and ask them to temporarily hook up a mechanical gauge and check it for you. They will probably charge more than $35 to do that but it will tell you what you need to know.

To make sure its the sending unit. Turn on your truck but KOEO and if its at 80psi then it is that. that's how I figured out that mine is bad

I did the same thing but in addition to that before I put the new one in I plugged the new one in and turned the key on to make sure it would read zero. I read somewhere it could also be the stepper motor on the gauge itself.
