mctwist77
I've been trying to pinpoint a squeak noise inside the cabin. Happens at random times, mostly when the cab flexes around turns and bumps. But I have heard it stopped at a light while moving around in my seat, basically rocking the truck slightly. It sounds like it's coming from the passenger side dash/door area, but then again I have no idea. My wife sat in the passenger seat and said it sounded like it was coming from the center console. I have tried to replicate the sound but I haven't been able to. I just lubed my door seals and it didn't do anything for the sound. For the love of god, please help before I sell my vette and SSS and just buy a Camaro ZL1.
SSmoothSilSS
Roll up the windows and set W-40 bomb off inside.
mctwist77
Lol sounds fairly messy
powell
It'll wipe up. Might be a control arm bushing or shock. Go through a car wash with under spray. If the squeak goes away immediately after for a bit then you need to grease something on the bottom half.
03SSBoy
Yea I was hearing a squeak also I thought it was inside but ended up being my hood.

EXGM
You need to get your hands on some chassis ears to help pin point it.
mctwist77
They are like $250. Does anyone have any ideas? Could an external squeak somehow sound like an internal squeak?
mctwist77
So, I can get the noise if I'm driving straight and jerk the wheel to the left. I hear it coming from the passenger side.
03SSBoy
Go to your passenger side and lift from the fender and start shaking it and see if you can hear it and do the same to the drivers side and that'll tell you if its outside or inside
Downeast Johnny
I think that I would start by getting a long 4X4 and set up a fulcrum to where you could get one end of the 4X4 under the frame right under the cab and have a bud put weight on and take it off the 4X4, (Up and down), and go all around in and out of the truck and see if you can pinpoint the noise. (Assuming that you can reproduce the noise this way). A 2X4 may be enough wood since you can create the noise by rocking in your seat. mctwist77
Johnny, mine is AWD but thats a good idea. I THINK I may have found the noise. It might be coming from the hand hold bar on the dash. I'm going to look into it tomorrow. I discovered that if I apply pressure on that bar the squeak doesnt happen or appears to be muffled. Downeast Johnny
Hope you've got it figured out Pete. I meant Pieces of wood to use for pry bar when I mentioned 2X4 and 4X4. (To move the truck around on it's suspension and reproduce the motions that cause the noise). Sorry for the confusion.
mctwist77
Update. Pulled off the dash handle bar, tightened the doors, lubed the seals, pulled off the radio trim piece and it still chirps. I also did as Johnny recommended and could not replicate the noise. I did notice it happens when I initially apply my brakes. Sounds like it's come from inside the passenger side dash
Downeast Johnny
Sorry that it wasn't an easy find / easy fix Peter. Hope you figure it out soon.
