Dropping front diff

Recommended Posts

i just replaced my front diff a few weeks ago. If you are mechanically incline, it should take you 15min to an hour to drop. (If you have an extra set of hands it goes by fast) My buddy and i had the front diff replaced in under an hour on my 03.

Just taking it out would take a skilled mechanic roughly thirty minutes, I've dropped mine in 17 but I was moving with a purpose. Very simple and straight forward, you need a 12" 1/2 extension with an impact, a swivel 21mm socket a 21mm wrench and a 15 mm swivel socket and of course the 11mm socket for the drive shaft. Good luck and if any more info is needed feel free to pm me, I've had my hands in quite a few.

As far as replacing bearings and such, it's actually a pretty simple task. Only thing I worried about was setting proper backlash. That's only reason I had it rebuilt instead of doing it myself

I have an awd '03 and I wanna drop the front diff so I can drift and do burnouts. I regularly drive her like the starship enterprise (to the floor everywherr!!!) So, will I get away without problens doing this?
