Battery dead and buzzing speakers

So I went to start up my 03 SS the other day and the battery was dead. I tried to charge up the battery but even after an hour I couldn't get the truck to even turn over. Seemed like it didn't have enough juice even though the battery charger said 14 volts. Also, the CD player was going crazy and the speakers were making weird sounds. Anyone had this before? I haven't had time to really look into it but was looking for a direction to start, I'm thinking a bad ground somewhere?

How old is the battery? Even though it may say 14v it depends on how much charge it will take and how much it has in it. Put it on a good charge hopefully that is all you need. A bad ground could be the cause as well or even a short. Make sure the leads are clean and tight on the battery. Check the connector ends on the wire. They do loosen up sometimes under extreme vibraitions. Look at the grounding connections themselves where they terminate. Make sure those two spots are clean and tight. I am pretty sure the small one is the front right side of the forward crossmember and the larger one is on the right motor mount. These trucks are very finicky and sensitive to loose ground wires and terminals. Good luck [emoji106]

When I bought the truck back 2 years ago the battery was junk. I replaced it with a cheaper alternative and after a year it failed too. At the start of this year I put a better quality battery in thinking I had bought a bad battery but now seem to be having the same problem again. I can't imagine 2 bad batteries back to back, seems unlikely but not impossible. I was thinking it was a bad ground of something draining the battery...

No. I wonder how the I pod interface is wired in. If they taped into a wrong wire it could be keeping modules awake. That or you have another issue. Think of a computer system and a network. If something is wired in wrong and back feeds power it "may" be your problem. Hard to diagnose electrical issues through a computer. Your going to need to get the battery charged up and then start looking for your draw. You don't have anything like a aftermarket alarm or remote start? Easiest way may be to start systematically pulling fuses to isolate the circuit with the draw then start working to find problem like a broken or worn wire etc.
