Speedo on my 03 SS throwing a fit ?????

Recommended Posts

Ok Got up this morning and on my way down the road I had took notice I was doing 110 let off the gas and pulled over and speedo drops to 55 and holds still at 55! Shut truck off and restarted 5 times it stays at 55 but will go up from there as I drive? Is the speedo history? I have had no work done to the truck in a year never tinker with shit same stock radio with xm? Has anybody had any issues like this. It was 24 deg today when starting out also truck has 75,000 miles! Any help would be nice seems I don't need another ticket ?

Your cluster stepper motors are bad.... VERY common. Do a web search and you will find literally 1,000,000 questions on this. Unless you have had your cluster replaced it is time. There was a class action years ago for original owners if you were under 75K I think. Its been a while.... so I'm starting to forget. At any rate your option is send current cluster out for repair, buy an exchange unit from a dealer or fix yourself. If you buy an exchange unit from a dealer it will need to be programed for the truck as they come in "dumb" and not programed.
