flingwing
Quick Question before I look at replacing the elements. Truck heated seat function stop working at same time on both driver and passenger seat. Possible causes?
SS-GTP
Try just the passenger side only if you haven't already. My passenger side would work alone, but as soon as I activated the drivers side it would turn both sides off. My issue was a short in one of the drivers seat elements. flingwing
Thanks SS-GTP. I'll check that out.
Hugie
Did you check the fuse box in the engine compartment? I had two guys at the car wash run both my seats up at the same time and I guess when the seats hit the stop, it blew the big square fuse block. That would be the first place I would look. Loeryder
Mine was the wiring harness under the drivers side seat. The molded plastic plug had melted all down one side and was barely making contact. I bypassed the plug and direct wired the larger wires for power and ground and havent had an issue since. flingwing
Hugie & Loeryder: I'll check that. Tried what SS-GTP suggested and didn't make a difference. I'll let you know what I find.

flingwing
dieseltech320: It will be a couple of days before I'll be able to get to it. Problem is on a Truck I'm just in the process of purchasing. Won't be until Friday or Saturday before I take possesion.

flingwing
First truck was an easy fix. There was a two prong connector (green wires) back rear right hand side near seat rail was disconnected, not sure why or how. Re-connected and both seats now work. Will try to track down problem with other truck tomorrow.
1981evildisco
My driver seat came on and off by itself, carmax figured it out. They wound up replacing the switch, and then replacing the module. There is a module built into the power window switch, apparently it is common for it to fail, and of course it isn't sealed so rain pours in and around it. It must be programmed to the vehicle by a tech II. I'd look into that if all else fails if look into that.
dieseltech320
I was pretty convinced that mine was the element when it stopped working last year after all the research I did, but now im starting to wonder and don't wanna go through all that work replacing it if that's not what it is. mine will come on when I first turn it on just long enough to feel a slight warmth then it will kick off and if I try to turn it back on after that it just kicks right back off. passenger works fine and if I turn driver on while passenger is on it will kick them both off. eberhama
About 98% of the time its the elements. It's the only part of the system that sees any wear and tear. On both my HD's it was the lower. On my 05 1500 and my dads 03 suburban, it was both the upper and lower elements.
