hadadually
I've been searching high and low through the many posts on shocks, and have not seen anything about bilstein 5100, just the yellow and blue 4600 series, the bilstein website does not show the 5100 for the SS, anyone know part numbers for the 5100 series that will work? and how are they compared to stock? or should I just get the 4600 series? thanks btw stock ride height, stock wheels etc. and plan to tow a toy hauler and generally poor road travels thanks Jason
hadadually
looking at this link on ebay, but not sure it will fit/work for my purposes http://www.ebay.com/itm/BILSTEIN-24-185950-24-186636-FRONT-REAR-SHOCK-KIT-99-06-GM-1500-SILVERADO-SIERRA-/161876638394?fits=Year%3A2005%7CModel%3ASilverado+1500%7CSubmodel%3ASS&hash=item25b0997aba:g:0GMAAOSwxH1UFjC2&vxp=mtr
1BAD2K
Going by the ad, it does say for torsion bar type suspension. Looks like the part you'll need if you aren't drastically lowered. Looks like a good deal too imo.

hadadually
No I held off, still considering but not sure if will work
Aldofashow
The SS I believe is a couple inches lower then a stock Silverado not sure if that would make these unusable I would think they would both bottom out the same but the shock would probably perform better at stock Silverado ride height where they were designed to be at for normal driving
1981evildisco
What is recommended for our trucks?
Aldofashow
I'm at stock height I just buy the same shocks at the dealer they cost me 75.00 a piece with account discount so there not the cheapest but they do last awhile and were designed for it if you change the height I'm sure there are better shocks for different heights but I'm just stock so that's what I run

1FASTBRICK
For those that don't know, The SS uses torsion bar front suspension like the 4wd. The regular 2wd trucks use a different front shock. They are not interchangeable. That auction listed above was for a slight lift of up to 4-6 inches front and 4 in the rear. This is what you want for a stock ride height vehicle. 1999-2006 CHEVROLET/GMC SILVERADO/SIERRA 1500 6-LUG 4WD 2007 **CLASSIC** CHEVROLET/GMC SILVERADO/SIERRA 1500 6-LUG 4WD (CLASSIC MODELS WITH TORSION BAR STYLE FRONT SUSPENSION ONLY) BILSTEIN 5100 SERIES FRONT & REAR SHOCK KIT FOR VEHICLES WITH 0"-2.5" OF FRONT LIFT AND 0"-1" OF REAR LIFT FRONT BILSTEIN PART #24-186643 / REAR BILSTEIN PART #24-186742 I had the 4600 series on a regular 2wd and it stiffened it up a bit in a good way at least for handling. Sometimes a little stiff unloaded but not bad. It felt more solid than the original factory shocks. Over time they wore like any other shock. They still felt decent but to me, they were worn. My understanding is the 5100 series also carry a LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY. The 4600 series do not.
NORCAL SS
ive been using/selling the belltech sp shocks on members rides here and locally ive done with great feedback. The 5100 is jarring im a bilstein dealer. Ive installed a few sets on these trucks and just ride gets real stiff. Customers complained when hitting bumps truck just jumped back to much and swapping over to the belltech sp ride is smoother and better riding. Belltech sp shocks i sell for 235 shipped any questions just ask tony

OneBadSSS
Are the Belltech Street Performance shocks recommended for an AWD SS at stock ride height or do you need to be lowered to run them?
jsanders347
Got the bilsteins on my truck. Very stiff ride. Good with the trailer I pull though. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
