stock bose, no bass???

06 silverado ss, bought it awhile back.,but never figured out the radio problem... it works but is not loud? And no bass? Steering controls don't work and it dosnt keep time... I pulled the center console up and saw that a wiring harnesse to the amp is spliced and taped up .. so the previous owner did same shady s**t!! I ll post pictures if need ,,,please help!, I want it to sound like it came from the factory... thanks for any help... much appreciated! !!

Sounds like you have a few issues.

1. You need to track down and check the wiring integrity. Most likely its loosing power when turned of which is why its not holding time.

2. The Bose amps have been known to take a dump. This could be the issue with the Volume level.

 

The steering wheel controls could be a separate issue such as the clock spring.

 

You could also have a radio that some one messed with in order to make it work. Such as pulling the security chip off the board.

Silly question your truck has the factory radio ( 6 disk or tape deck)? What I mean is someone didn't add a factory nav for example... cause that's a whole other issue....

no nav, but it looks like someone added woofers under the back seat...i can trace a red wire to under the passenger side dash...,i just dont know... maybe rip everything out and start fresh..?

 

They may have by-passed the factory amp which is under the center console. Also Look behind the factory radio or under the dash for anything aftermarket.

 

They may have had an after market amp wired in at some point.
