2006 Chevy SS Intimidator?

Recommended Posts

Looking for some opinions out there i am in California, this truck is in Wisconsin its an Intimidator with 88k miles, i know the mileage is a bit high but i really want an intimidator and i can't find one in California for a reasonable price, my question is the truck is basically 20k with taxes and transport it's gonna come out to 23k straight, do you guys think it's worth it? i personally think it's worth it i mean it's limited edition and with the leather interior not bad, only flaw i see is the rust on the towing hitch

i asked them to send a picture of the undercarriage, but just because theres rust on the hitch doesnt mean the undercarriage is rusted too those areas are common for rust to come up, otherwise the truck looks great if the undercarriage is good then i'll purchase it, thinking about putting flowmaster on it and a custom stereo

They salt the chit out of roads in the mid west. If it was driven in the winter at all your going to have rust issues. I would run as it's not going to get better. There wasn't many iss so your going to have to keep looking. All the iss I have seen fall into too buckets... No miles and big money or worn out and somewhat cheap. Heck most Silverado SS fall into same buckets.... So if your looking for the middle your going to have to keep looking I think you will eventually find what your looking for but I would steer clear of salt state rigs.... Just my 2 cents.

Told you. Having lived in Midwest twice I am very familiar with rust. If you drive it in winter that is what they look like underneath. Sad but that is the way it is. Now try working on them. Nothing like lots of seized bolts.... That and you brake a lot nuts and bolts so a torch is your best friend.

Wow! 19K, they must be charging extra for the oxidation treatment. The frame has "patina" :)

Richard

Ah yes patina.....

If it wasn't an hour away, I'd go check it out for ya.

But, that little rust on the hitch? That ain't shit. 88k after 9 years in WI. My 03 had 110k after 10 years in Chicago. And I still drive it all year round. Even at 160k, I've had nothing but compliments anywhere I go.

Go back and check out the undercarriage pic, post #6. :)

Also keep in mind if you're from a rust area you're "used to it" - those of us where stuff doesn't rust, kind of hard to accept rusty vehicles. I once bought a '68 Coupe de Ville from Ohio and every time I had to work on it, I swore I'd rather push it out into the street and set it on fire. Every bolt was a battle, and an eyeful of rust flakes that always seemed to get past my safety glasses. Speaking as a guy that actually had to go to the hospital to get them to pluck shards of metal out of my eye with a needle then buff my cornea with a dremel, I'll pass on a repeat of that!
