Madshots
I'm thinking of buying Dynatech longtube headers but don't know what size? I'm thinking 1 3/4", 1 7/8" seem a little big.
JC03SS
All in preference. If you have big power plans for the truck 1 7/8" will be the best bet. 1 3/4 is fine, most people run this size including myself.
Madshots
Ok sounds like I will go with the 1 3/4" since I'm only going to put a dual in and out 14" magnaflow dumped at the axle
karduke
Basically large headers will produce high rpm hp, less low end yet poor mileage.
CJ_978
if you want to text me I can send you a vid of my old SS I had dynatech long tubes with magnaflow exhaust except mine wasn't dumped, just so you can get an idea of the sound
8hnpSS
there was a thread on ls1 tech about this. people from texas speed dyno'd there car ( near stock ls1 camaro) with the tsp 1 7/8 and pace setter 1 3/4. from what was said there was no difference below 3000 rpm with either set. the 1 7/8 made something like 6-7 more hp top end. 2006IntimidatorSS
My Intimidator SS has Dynatech headers with a Corsa cat back exhaust and I got to say the sound is pretty sweet. Has a nice grunt when you rev it up quick.
Denaliguy
^^^ this. My Denali is running the same setup and it turns some heads. I haven't finished tuning because of several large mechanical issues that keep showing up, but the truck is noticeably faster. Mpgs would be better if I could keep my foot out of it haha. 1981evildisco
Anybody have a link for that video?
2003blackSSS
Here is a link when I did my truck- it's a Corsa cat back though. It's surprising the difference in revving after installing the headers. https://youtu.be/Z3YS2Qr_EPI Edited December 29, 2015 by 2003blackSSS (see edit history)
silveraydossyo
Is there a link to an install anywhere? I am looking to buy these headers (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/dtc-715-84110) and I was wondering how they fit.
RickRolled
Is that the correct part number???
2003blackSSS
Install depends on your skill level. I had 2 broken bolts to extract, and didn't cut any pipes if I wanted to de-mod in the future. It took me about 4-5 hours taking my time. The dynatech's fit very nice and go in easily from the bottom. They come with great instructions if you need them Edited January 27, 2016 by 2003blackSSS (see edit history)
