EXGM
Has anyone here replaced their heater hoses? There is a funky connection at the heater core and I can't tell what I need to change. All the other hoses use the spring clamps, just trying to make sure I buy all the parts I need before I tear it apart!
Downeast Johnny
Is it this quick disconnect your asking about? I'm not familiar with them myself but found this vid. Hope it does you some good. Edited June 25, 2015 by Downeast Johnny (see edit history)

Well I thought I needed special tool but I already have the quick disconnect set so I'm good there. Guess I will head down to the dealer and pick up some of those quick disconnects. I'm surprised nobody on here has replaced those lines. My truck only has 50k but they are 9 years old and I'm replacing all those hoses and coolant as preventive maintenance. Changing the hoses as preventive maintenance sounds like a good idea. I am going to look into changing mine. What is the quick disconnect set that you mentioned? Sounds like I may need to look into that set.

I bought mine years ago I think its from Lisle... but you can find on the special tool spinny thingy at a better auto part store (not a o'rileys or AutoZone) I have used it primarily on the quick disconnects on fuel systems.... aweSSome
I have 225k miles on my '05 and the water pump finally went. I replaced upper and lower radiator hoses and all the heater hoses, figured it was time. Read the horror stories of getting the heater hoses off at the firewall, over time the plastic tends to snap. Used the quick disconnect tool as previously shown and everything came off easily. Invaluable cheap set of QD removers....worth the $$! Update last week I went to the local u pull it and practiced pulling the lines off a junk truck. It's pretty easy. You use the tool and just twist the fitting clockwise and counterclockwise and it will pop right off. Now I just need to find time to do my truck. I've never seen the name before. That's a good idea practicing on junkers. Post up how it goes on your truck.
