atent.2009
Hi guys I'm new to this so cut me some slack. I recently did a DJM 3/4 drop to my SS looks sweet but my driveshaft is rubbing underneath where ext cab is when my dirt bike is loaded and real bad vibrations as well. It fine when nothing is in the bed of the truck any help would be very appreciative
1BAD2K
Might need to install some helper bags for when you load up something in the bed or if you tow.
jasonhensley35
Definitely need some bags bud.
BC DOORMAN
Also search the site for info on wedge shims to change the pinion angle. I have seen mention of this while doing my lowering research. Sweet drop man I am looking at that after my hydro boost and front brake upgrade is finished up.
atent.2009
BC DOORMAN Do you know what degree I need or how would I find out the degree shims to buy?
powell
talk to Tony (NorCalSS)
kissfans03ss
I had my truck set to the lowest setting in the rear and Tony said to notch the crossmember so I just moved the rear leaf sprint down one hole on the mounting beacket. Akslowroller
I did the same drop installed 2 degree shims
atent.2009
Akslowoller Do do think that 2 degree shim would stop it from rubbing?
Akslowroller
I don't know if it would while your loaded. But nothing in the bed for sure. I had a little rubbing on the driveshaft and it went away.
atent.2009
What do you guys think about cutting out that crossmember? That would solve the problem?
Akslowroller
I would say throw the 6 dollar shims in and see if it fixes it.
kissfans03ss
Yeah, I personally would not cut out the crossmember.
atent.2009
Kissfans03ss After you noticed the crossmember under the cab did you weld another piece of metal up there to fill in the hole?
kissfans03ss
I don't have a hole in the crossmember but I noticed that every now and then when I hit a bump I heard a noise and resonance through the body that's when I noticed a minor grove wearing around my driveshaft and realized that the shafts was hitting the crossmember which is not damaged.
